I usually stretch every morning...sometimes I don't have time and do it at night. I noticed that I am much more flexible in the evening than in the morning. Does anyone know why? I'd really like to know the physiological causes for this.

Well think about it.....I'm not really a doctor or anything but if you stay in one position for a long time whether it is sleeping in a bed, sitting in a chair, riding in a car, your body naturally stiffens up....as opposed to walking around all day and twisting and contorting your body, each muscle group is gradually stretched out and loosened up...So when you wake up in the morning and your body has been in the same position for roughly 8 hours you are bound to be a little stiffer than if you were to move around for 8 hours.....
