some people believe esp in native american cultures in most countries, that our spirits contain similar qualities to those things animals plants and other living things/ that exist in nature. example~~I like Dragons (they are protective and mythical and fierce and eternal)~~In the hawaiian culture we have animal spirits, protective gaurdians that are around us and protect us called "aumakua's" sometimes we wear a symbol of this aumakua~(specific to our family) ~in the shape of the animal as an amulet~~or carry a totem, with us for luck~~~and to remind us of our connections on a spiritual level,

Cats. I love to be left alone, generally move around slowly, and I'm quiet, but can jump at any opportunity that comes along, to help others. But I don't believe in animal spirits protecting us. My cat guards me and growls when strangers or strange animals come close to the house!

My favorite animal is an otter,because they're cute,playful,smart and all that (and a bag of chips!).But I totally understand the spirit animal concept (me being about a quarter Cherokee and all ) and one of my spirit animals is the lizard.In honor of Lizard, I have a tattoo of a lizard on the back of my neck.I also have a rather sizable tattoo of a Phoenix on my upper back,because in several astrological systems, my animal is the Phoenix,and the Phoenix legend has a very special meaning for me in this life.

You are Hawaiian? That is awesome. I feel very close to Hawaii. I really hope to live there one day. My boyfriend had lived there for a while.
My favorite animal is the tiger/cats in general. I find that I do have a lot in common with cats. Perhaps I was a cat in my past life.
This is dorky, but I named one of my Neopets Aumakua Leke because the "species" lives in trees.

I ike all animals - especially horses - my spirit animal is a crow - I have a tattoo of one on my shoulder - and my familiar is a cat.
