As long as you're not soaking him/her in cold water when he/she is already hot, you're fine. If the dog is hot and you put cold water on them, you can cause them to have a heart attack due to shock and die. If you can, give your dog a kiddie pool with enough water for them to get wet in, and leave it in a shady place. Then they can choose if they want to be wet or not. Never force your dog to get wet if they don't want to.

Yes. Depending on the breed and coat type though, you may need to keep a eye out for hot spots if the undercoat does not dry out. A good bath every week or at least every other week can help.

Considering that dogs don't have sweat glands, I think it is wise to do such a task. Water is a sticky substance that cools down the body and since every warm blooded animal, including humans needs to cool off in hot days, I say say.

I mean pigs, whom have no sweat glands, use mud to cool off.

Yes it is safe to do that, just make sure you don't wash your dog more than 3 times a month because that can cause the dog to get skin disease.

Are you asking or telling?
If it's cooler in your house bring the dog inside during the hottest time of the day. Where do stay when it's hot, outside?
