Are you speaking of finding a part time job while in college or finding a job in your career after you graduate?

If you are looking for part-time work during school then try the human resources dept on campus. College towns are usually loaded with restaurants, grocery stores, etc. All of those places have jobs available.

If you are looking for your career job then take with your advisor or look on the bulletin board in your department.

Every campus I know of has a career center where they will help you set up interviews, write resumes, etc.

Good luck!

Making a resume is the first step, also broadening your activities and taking on leadership roles, getting internships and getting involved in student orgs is a way to build your experience for pre-real-world work. I think you mean finding a career right?

You'll want to show the depth of your person and experience in life for those entry level jobs. Get involved in school and other activities. Sorority, or sports club usualy are good ways to go.

Also -- networking. Getting to know different people. A lot of groups and clubs have national meetings and conventions that you can go to and meet prospective employers.

A lot of times you can work on campus. some of the better jobs such as library work and some office work are given to work study students first, but, at least at my school, you can work through temp services in the dining halls, some offices, and in other places such as check cashing, the college's theater box office, and part time cleaning. An added bonus of working for your college is that, if you're attending a state school, this means you technically work for the state and usually you do not have to pay state income tax on your earnings!

I got a part-time job in the department of my major. It's a good way to get familiar with the professors and other students with similar majors.

The best jobs are those where you make tips. Bartending & waitressing will allow you to work evening and weekends and will pay well also. During the day, valet parking or golf course service (prepping carts, wiping down clubs for golfers) also pays well.
