It was Jesus destiny for him to be crucified on the cross, seeing it again will do nothing but bring joy to his heart for he gave his life for you so that you might live again, free of pain and sin. Displaying the cross shows us Christians as a supporter for what Jesus has done for us and a believer of a free life with him. To the observer you should know this when you see the cross. It doesn't give us anymore power or prestige because Jesus can and does see whats in each of our hearts and knows our true desires.

Traditionally "Christians" wear a cross as a symbol of their faith in Jesus Christ as the Messiah(savior of man kind) and that it was His death on the cross that gave them salvation. The escape from an eternal life void of God.
In modern American society many wear a cross to old the Evangelicals at bay. Symbolically quoting"I wish not to hear your message."

Actually there are a lot of Christians who do not wear crosses as a number of churches feel that they are icons and that the bible speaks against the wearing or exhibiting of icons. Personally I don't have a problem with them at all. I say that if by wearing a cross around your neck it helps you feel closer to your faith on a daily basis then go for it.

Not all Christians wear crosses. Many well-informed Christians are aware that this symbol is actually a pagan fertility symbol. It was adopted by early Christendom because the people they were trying to convert were already satisfied with their religions, so as a "compromise" they adopted this symbol to make Christianity seem more appealing. As a result, it became one of the many compromises of faith and adulterated true worship of God.

Actually serious scholars say the 'crosses' of the time were straight vertical poles. Artists later found the outstrected arms more dramatic and added them. The hands were tied above the crucified's head.
The symbol is apparently an artists's rendering
Of course that is if Jesus existed!

you know... christians wear crosses to symbolize what has been done for us, as sinners.... it shows a sign of respect and love for what Jesus did for us... i think he'll like the fact that we have not forgotten, but believed and thank him for all he's done for us.. sure, Jesus was God in human form and had feelings, but if he sees a cross, he's not gonna flinch... remember, he suffered doing that, but he saved the WHOLE WORLD FROM ETERNAL DAMNATION... how awesome is that!!!! Jesus is God and he has the power to do ANYTHING... maybe he didn't want to die on the cross, but he definitely knew what he was doing... and when he did that, he was thinking just about you... he saved you!!!! so if he sees a cross again he's not gonna run the other way, because he's God's son and all-powerful... a cross means much more than suffering and death, it means salvation for the world...

Not all people who wear crosses are Christians. And some who wear them may have been brought up in a church, but they hardly practice Christianity.
I think the reason most people wear crosses is because the cross LOOKS so damn COOL!

A cross is a symbol. Some christians like to wear them (like me for instance), because, maybe it comforts them or reminds them of the GREAT SACRIFICE Jesus made for our sins. I like to wear them because they have alot of meaning. I don't think Jesus would mind seeing the cross again because he knows our purpose for wearing them. It shows just how much we miss and love him.

Their silly little superstitions have them believe that they will be safer in the presence of a crucifix because it channels Jesus or something.
It's not much different than not walking under ladders or trying very hard not to break mirrors.
