because that is what Islam requires. Why don't you ask, "why do Muslims actually believe that God would have them murder innocent people just because they refuse to convert to Islam and become murderers themselves?"

Islam clearly teaches that a woman is a full-person under the law, and is the spiritual equal of a male. Also, according to Islamic Law, women have the right to own property, operate a business and receive equal pay for equal work. Women are allowed total control of their wealth, they cannot be married against their will and they are allowed to keep their own name when married. Additionally, they have the right to inherit property and to have their marriage dissolved in the case of neglect or mistreatment. Also, Islam does not consider woman an "evil temptress", and thus does not blame woman for the "original sin". Women in Islam participate in all forms of worship that men participate in. Actually, the rights that Islam gave to women over 1400 years ago were almost unheard of in the West until the 1900s. Less than fifty years ago in England and America, a woman could not buy a house or car without the co-signature of her father or husband!

Err. . . no offence, you are probably right.
I do notice that too. After reading your question, I began to recall and think back, perhaps by sheer congnitive conversion, it is not possible.
If Isa (Jesus) is almasih (Messiah/ Christ), and if the Koran claim that if anyone don't Believe in Mohamad, they may ask the people of the book (Jews or Muslim), than why not I go direct to follow their teaching?
Funny right? Yes it is, after reading the Koran and Hadith, you will find it strange that in Koran, they have so much to teach about Isa Almasih, and to learn from the people of the Book. But in real life, none of the Iman willingly talk about it.
I suspect, deep inside them, they know what is the truth. But who want to give up the right of having 4 wives, and all the rich tradition, and admit that they are wrong afterall.
I suspect, Mohamad did believe in what the Bible says. But iin those days, not much people can really read, and there are so few Bible. So in his own capacity, he try to do good. But somehow, things became like what we have today. Sad.
So now how? Multiply by birth. And when proverty sits in, as they have too many mouth to feed, what do they do? Blame every bodies else, but Muslim teaching.
Frankly, if one will to do a research on their economy level, we do able to find some rich muslim around, but the majority, iin any given place or countires, most are below average.
So sad.

it is part of islam and the rules....women are created only for one man in her world - her husband...why should another man, who is not her husband look at her in an inappropriate way? he has no right, it is the same with men, but they do not have to be as covered
it is against the laws if islam to marry a spouse that follows another religion...it just doesnt make sense - i mean what will the child learn? they will be split into two worlds from the beginnning...but it is not a necessity unless they are intended to marry - not any randon person, although that would be good

This is not true that Muslim men feel that they have to convert all the other religions women to Islam. There is nothing which is mentioned in Qur'an to do so. Regarding hiding their women its more traditional instead of religious.

They believe Islam in the One True Faith and that they're saving souls by bringing others into the faith. To prevent corruption, they want to make sure their women marry Muslim men. It's really not much different in Christianity. I (unfortunately) know of plenty of people who would be appalled if they found their son or daughter wished to marry a Mormon/Catholic/Muslim/Jew.

The foundations of an Islamic society are justice and equity. Allah has created men and women as equal, but with different capabilities and different responsibilities. Men and women are different, physiologically and psychologically. Their roles and responsibilities are different. Men and women are equal in Islam, but not identical.
Muhammad (pbuh) asked people to shun notions of racial, family or any other form of superiority based on mundane things and said that righteousness alone was the criterion of one's superiority over another. It has already been shown how he mixed with everyone on equal terms, how he ate with slaves, servants and the poorest on the same sheet (a practice that is still followed in Arabia), how he refused all privileges and worked like any ordinary laborer.
This verse answers your question:
Quran 2:256
Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects Evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
Finally, the wearing of the veil by women is also an illogical premise to claim that women are inferior to men. It is more appropriate to indict a society of female exploitation if it tolerates pornography rather than if it enforces the veil. Given that Allah is neither male nor female, given that He does not endear people to Himself based on their gender, given that the Creator cares about all of us male or female, given that the sexual and violent drive of men is stronger than that of women...given all this, it is illogical to cast a negative light on the following injunctions contained in the Qur'an (translation):
[33:59] O Prophet, tell your wives and daughters and the believing women to draw their outer garments around them (when they go out or are among men). That is better in order that they may be known (to be Muslims) and not be annoyed...
[24:30-31] Say to the believing man that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that will make for greater purity for them; and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; and that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands...
On this misconception, there is a great deal more to write, most of it showing how current practices in many Muslim lands go against what the Qur'an and Sunnah have ordained, lands in which women are treated as property (unIslamic), are not educated (unIslamic), are forbidden their economic rights (unIslamic), and more. On this point in particular, we encourage everyone to consult the Qur'an and Sunnah before incriminating Islam. Always remember that Islam is a complete way of life from the Creator, and that Muslims are people who claim to follow that way of life. A Muslim may claim to follow Islam, but be wrong.

i am er ,was born & raised christian & i converted to islam, i choose to convert of my own free will. i also have many american(white) friends that have done the same. they, like me, r are happy .as far as thinking it is their right, i highly doubt it . in any religon u r supposed to spread the good word .my own personal experiece is that when u meet someone & fall in love u want to become part of their life & that usually means accepting them as they are.in islam all faith in God is accepted(all religions) and the part about hiding their women, i'm assuming u mean the covering of our WHOLE entire body, well that is because women r God's gift to man and u r supposed to hide ur beauty it is only for ur husband to appreciate. think how many times we see a beautiful person & think how sexy or o i'd like to..... with that person .it's kind of a sin so we r trying to prevent as much sin on ouselves & other people as God fearing people. i thought it was oppression at first but once i understood , it kinda made sense .plus it says in the bible women are supposed to cover themselves i think it is in corinthians .

I can tell you that it is not always the case.
I am a Christian and i married my Muslim husband nearly 2 years ago and while he worries that because i will not convert to Islam i will not go to heaven(his thoughts due to brainwashing)he understands that it is important to me to keep my faith.

Good observation! it,s because they want to force their will on their womenfolk, like they want to force their religion on the whole world. They,re afraid that given freedom of choice, their women would choose a different and happier way of life. Incidentally, how often do you see their women smiling? not very often, if at all, their unsmiling faces speak volumes.
