yes she can breed at 5 years old but it is not advisable for a ***** to have her first litter at 5 or she may be 6 by the time the puppies arrive you will most probably have to have a c/section as she is too old to give birth naturally for the first time ....why have you waited so long..if she wasnt bred from before i wouldnt take the chance of losing the ***** and the puppies and c/sections are very very expensive as it is bound to happen out of hours so more expense for and heartache...please if u want another go to shihtzu rescue and adopt one ......

Ah, well, if the only reason is to have another shitzu you can always rescue one from a shelter.

Get into contact with a reputable breeder and learn what it takes to get a litter of healthy beautiful purebred shitzu: a quality, tested brood b-i-t-ch selected from a quality blood line, a wealth of knowledge, lots of time, a considerable amount of money and a bit of luck just to begin with.
Then come courage, responsibility and sleepless nights.
Make sure that all of you puppies find good owners and will never end up in a pond.
The truth is - we will never know....

Actually your dog is not 35 in dog years, it's 42 years, as the first year of a dog's life counts as double (14).
And Dogs can have puppys until they are 8 years, some 9 years, but if your dog has had a cesarean (excuse the spellings) twice then no she can't have any more. If you have just gotten your dog and do not know it's history of birth as your vet if she has had a cesarean, they can tell by how weak the uterus is.
I hope this helps!

Okay sorry iam getting annoyed with all the breeding questions. If you don't know how old is too old then you shouldn't be breeding it!There are enough dogs in this world and you don't need to make more. You on't even care for your dog if you havn't gotten her fixed, shes lived five years with sexual tension and ever heat she gose through increases her chance of cancer.Your gonna end up kill you dog and the pups.Iam sorry if i seem harsh but if you do breed her what are you going to do?You appently know nothing about it.There are loads of shitzus out there please don't add to it.

She can, if she's not spayed, but not if she is spayed.

Unless you're willing to accept responsibility for the entire future of the puppies, I'd suggest not breeding her. If you don't even know if she physically can have pups, then you're not the kind of person who should be breeding. There are too many badly bred, unwanted dogs in the world. Don't contribute more. Please.

Plus if she's not in ideal shape and you choose a bad partner for her, having puppies could actually kill her. If you love her, don't let her have puppies.
