there is only one way you will stop smoking ...you...have got to want to, no other reason will work, thats why people become nasty and irritated when they stop, its like theyre depriving themselves of something, ....when i stopped...it was because i was going to have major surgery, and i didnt want to cough the stitches open.. so ...once i made my mind up, i would light up.. take a few puffs to kill the craving, and put it out , when i got the craving again i would light it up again,...i always carried a pack of 10 with me...and if i ever wanted one i knew i could have one...and i would have.had too..but knowing i could if i wanted to, must have been good enough..cause i never did..i gradually worked down to 1 a day and thought once i realised i didnt really need that i stopped....but still always carried a pack, that way it was my choice, not to smoke, and it wasnt like a punishment..as such, being deprived of the one thing that calms you, gives you something to do with your hands, all the other habits you form around smoking....and maybe if you need a help with willpower to start with, try the patches, but i think you can do it on your own, cuz like my surgery you have a baby to sounds like another good reason to think of, but you really have got to do it cuz U want to not need to or any thing else, by the way i didnt gain weight, eat more or anything... ihad no need to replace something i chose to get rid of..... so didnt need comfort eating or any thing....good luck i hope you find a way that works for you..

Just think about the health of your unborn baby. Don't buy them, and throw any you have away. What is more important, your habit, or the health of the baby?
And just because someone else smoked during their pregnancy and didn't have any problems, doesn't mean you won't. Please, I understand it's hard, but the baby is the most important thing now. If you quit now, you may be able to quit for good. Babies that grow up in a home with a smoker are more likely to have asthma and other developmental problems.
I'm sorry if I'm coming off strong. I'm not trying be mean. It is important for the baby, and for you to try your very best to quit. And it will not hurt the baby to quit cold turkey.

It's a gradual process for some people.
You must make the cigarettes more and more unavailable to you.
I was keeping them in my garage when I smoked my last one.
I was also only smoking part of one at a time in the end.
the reason you got hooked was because you started carrying them with you. STOP THAT IMMEDIATELY if you want to quit.
Keep a pack in the trunk of the car and one one the basement to start. Then when no progress is made keep just the one in the trunk of the car.
You will be surprised at how easy this approach works.
I have quit twice cold turkey and once this way (the last time) and this is the best way. The COLD TURKEY approach SUCKS.

Okay I know it's hard. I'm 38 weeks and still have yet to quit. But if you cut down quite a bit it wont hurt. I know a lot of people that smoked during pregnancy and there babies are fine. My 2 1/2 year old daughter is a example, nothing wrong with her and she don't look funny or deformed. And my mom smoked with me. If you can actually quit then Good Luck. because I couldn't

You need to try really hard to quit smoking. If you feel the need grab something good for you. Also you can chew gum or suck on lollipops . Ask the doctor if you can get the patch to help you. Just remember there is a baby growing inside of you and if you dont try really hard your baby may have problems when its born. Think of the baby and not yourself.
Good luck

Just do it! It's not only you now, you, are making choices for someone else. I suggest, gum, and lots of candy, and, lots of hugs all the way around. It's hard to quit smoking imagine how bad it will be for the little bugger when he or she gets out and has to go cold turkey on their first breath of life! Geeze, go to the gym, tape your fingers together. Love that child in you more then tobacco! Good Luck, and God Bless. :)

They recently put out a study that babies exposed to smoke, even second hand smoke were more likely to die sudden infant death syndrome. Smoking can literally kill a child... my doctors told my dad he had to stop smoking when I was little b/c it was killing me. Think of your child!!!! If it grows up with asthma, or has some problem due to smoke, do you really want to be the cause?

I did it when i was preggo, but it was hard as hell. It's gonna take lots of will power...and i mean lots....also this sounds stupid, but i used menthol cough drops to help quit. It at least gave me the menthol that i missed, plus the oral stimulation, so i think it helped a lot. Good luck.
Oh and be prepared to want to kill people...Oh and you have to go cold turkey...throw what you have away and don't buy anymore. it's the only way..

how about the knowledge that if you don't stop the possibility of birth defects in your baby grown larger every single day. Baby could be under developed, premature, or a whole host of things that could effect its life.
Try getting professional help to stop. You must do something before you harm the baby.

You have to put your baby before yourself. Each time you think of smoking, think about how much you're hurting your baby (and yourself). I know it's hard to quit, but if that's not reason enough to quit, then you don't need a baby.
