Always... it's just another excuse to throw a party.
Don't slight someone cause they may not have the time or money for a big fancy wedding. Yeah, throw a party. Make them feel good.

I think this very much depends on why they are eloping. If they are
eloping to avoid all of the traditional trappings of a wedding including
the various parties that surround it, then the shower is one of the things
they are trying to avoid.

If, on the other hand, they are eloping to keep costs down, it is surely
a nice thing to do to throw her (and him, by the way) parties that they don't
have to pay for.

Yes you should. What does the word "traditional" mean now day's? Everyone does it their way. That is the way the world it today. If you want to throw her a shower then do it. A wedding is a wedding as long as you say "I do" who cares where they say it or who they say it in front of. As long as they are doing what makes them happy. Good luck to the bride and groom

you can have the wedding during the shower to surprise the guest, turn it into a jack and Jill party. If you want to elope throw a party and drop hints about what it is about and make sure that the guest can figure it out after you elope.

Heck NO! Wedding showers are for people getting married in a traditional way. This woman is eloping...nothing traditional about that. In ancient times the only shower this woman would be getting is a showers of stones: pelted to death. Hell No! No shower for Jezebel.

If it's a few close freinds or small family group, I don't see why not. I am assuming a financial matter is why there's no "traditional" wedding. And in that case, I bet the people i nvited wouldn't mind being a little more generous helping the new couple get started.

Good luck to the new couple.

To elope is to steal away in secret to wed. Throwing a bridal shower before hand would therefore mean it could not be an elopement!!!!!!
