The FTC has set up an excellent site with information on ID Theft. Go to the link below.

The problem with ID Theft is you never know it's been stolen until you start seeing signs. You may get a strange bill in the mail...collection calls....

When you pull a credit report you will see just how bad it is. ID Theft is like cockroaches....once you start seeing a problem it's usually a lot worse then it looks.

I have a great solution to help protect you from this! AND, if your identity is stolen, this company will do restoration FOR YOU. You need not spend hours on the phone trying to do it for yourself. They won't do pre-existing situations, so if you don't know yet that your identity was stolen, I would suggest getting this plan so that you will know when it happens. They moniter your Experian credit report and if one is pulled, they email you within a couple of hours.

Identity theft isn't just about credit. Someone can get medical care in your name, work under your SSN, or commit crimes under your identity. This service is $10-$13 a month, very affordable and worth having.

Go to my Blog on my 360 page for more information about identity theft. Also, for the plan go to http://prepaidlegal.com/idt/cdmallicoat

Seriously consider this and contact me with questions.

They could, but they probably will not once they see that you have bad credit. Just kidding. You need to notify Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union (the three credit reporting agencies). They will put a monitoring service on your Social Security number, and they have to notify you every time someone tries to use your number to establish credit.

Also, the government requires the credit reporting agencies to supply you with at least one free credit report every year. You should get the free report from each agency to make sure nothing bad has happened. I live in GA, and the state gov't requires that the agencies provide 2 free reports per year.

1. Cancel all your crdit cards, immediately
2. File reports with all three credit bureaus
3. File a police report and carry a copy of it with you at all times for at least 5 yeras.

I'm serious! This hppened to him. The only thing that prevented him from going to jail was that report!!
