Probably not; most likely, it means you need to lay off the bean dip. It almost definitely means you need more roughage in your diet, both in the form of soluble and insoluble fiber, to keep you regular and "sweep out" the works. You can use over-the-counter medication to treat the symptoms for the moment (Ex-Lax and Gas-Ex, for example) while trying to clear them up through a dietary change. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, switch your carb intake to whole grains whenever possible, and keep well-hydrated -- while that whole 8-glass-a-day regimen has been proven unnecessary, getting plenty to drink helps a lot more than you realize. Also, regular exercise helps to keep the works moving, and helps the circulation get nutrients and oxygen to where they're needed most.

If your symptoms persist more than a few days, see your doctor, because while colon cancer is probably unlikely, there may be other problems lurking in the nethers that he is better able to diagnose than anyone on here. Good luck!

Not necessarily, but any persistent change in normal bowel function can be an indication of colon cancer. You are also assuming the pain is gas pain. Might be, might be something more serious.

Seeing a physician would make more sense that using Yahoo.

colon cancer doesnt frequently causes gas. well constipation can be but its a case in distal colon cancer where other features of bleeding per rectum, and genreal features of cancer also predominate like nausea , vomiting , fever etc. right now what you need is high fibre diet (salads , fruits, vegetables) and loads of water to drink. still wary then consult ur physician to go for a colonoscopy(provided u have medical insurance else its costly)

Sometimes it can be I think related to IBS (irritable bowel
syndrome) or gastritis. Both are very, very pain full. I have sufferd with both for 37 yrs. Been on meds half that long so best to see a gastrilogist Dr. And no it does not mean you have colon cancer.

No it can mean pregnancy, too. :P

It's a signal that your digestive system is slow, that the muscles are very relaxed for some reason so the food sits in your gut longer, producing more gas, and more water is extracted as it sits in your colon longer, making for the constipation.

Eat lots of fiber, fuits & veggies, and drink lots of water. A simple diet change can make all the difference.

It means you should see your doctor. Also, it would be a good idea to write down everything you eat for a week or two. include the quantity and the time eaten. Bring that to the doctor with you.

That may help your doctor diagnose the problem.
