Ok. If a child was born on a boat, in international waters, where would its technical birthplace be? I'm NOT talking about citizenship, I know it would be whatever the parents are. I mean, what would it say on the birth certificate for birthplace?

It would be the vessal's flag country. If the ship carried a US Flag, it would be an American birth cirtificate. If the ship was Norweigan, it would be a Norwegian birth cirtificate. In some cases, this would mean that the baby would have citizenship in that country and the parents would have to petition for citizenship in their home country.

That is one hell of a good question...

My friend was born on a boat coming from Poland to America...
I think he said they considered him born in Poland...

I really don't know.

I think the place where the boat is registered,,,and what kind of flag it is flying?
