Put Neosporin on your ear AND earring every night before bed, then take it out in the morning and leave it out all day. Repeat until well.

It really works- my doctor told me that!

Infected Ear Piercing

Bacteria cell walls are made up by proteins, and proteins are denatured(broken down) by 2 easy things you can do: 1. Heat, 2. Salt. Salt also draws out infected "fluids" from the cells of your body by osmosis. A "hot as you can stand" wet compress soaked in rather heavy salt water (table salt, sea salt, Epsom salt etc...) applied 10 min. at a time, at least 4x/day will help. This also works on boils, skin infections and the like. If the infection began from an allergic reaction to the metal inserted, you will not "get rid of" the source of your infection. it. Do soak the earring in alcohol. Bacitracin or other topical antibiotic is good to apply to the piercing appliance upon reinsertion. Make sure you clean around piercing as directed by the "piercer." If the infection is more than just a small, localized area, and you are experiencing fever, body aches, and other infection symptoms, you need to see a doctor. Belly-button piercings are notorious for bad infections, be careful that any body-piercing is done using sterile equipment with sterile technique. Check out the piercer first!

Wash your piercing twice a day with soap and water and follow up by dabbing them with alcohol on a cotton (front and back) afterward.

DO NOT use peroxide to clean your piercing. Peroxide is very harsh and may cause burns if used too much.

Do NOT take the piercing out permanently; only remove it for cleaning and treatment while the ear is infected. Removing a piercing during an infection may cause the hole to close with the infection still in it. Then, you have a whole other set of problems.

RE:
How do you get rid of an infected ear piercing?

if it's a simple lobe piercing, you do not need to remove the jewelry. clean the piercing 2x-3x daily and spin the stud (i'm assuming it's a stud) in a circle in the piercing to loosen up any dried pus, etc. do NOT use rubbing alcohol. isopropyl alcohol is too harsh-- it will kill the good bacterias being produced by your piercings (bacterias that work to harden the piercing wall and help it heal). warm salt water is ideal for cleaning sensitive piercings (infected, new, or otherwise). hydrogen peroxide will also get the job done, but a really great cleaner that piercers use for just about everything is h2ocean. it's availible in a spray can, & it will gently clean your piercing without stripping away the good bacterias. & it won't hurt.

I have a son, Joey Niceforo, who is a young 27 year old tenor, with a group called "DESTINO" recording in Vancouver Bc, Canada.

For the last few weeks Joey has had a cold. Just a few days ago he developed an ear ache, a swollen ear and loss of hearing. He was diagnosed with serous otitis media (middle ear infection).

The major concern we have is that Joey and the Group DESTINO have been booked to open the Marie Osmond show in Disney World on April 3,

Have a quick remedy for our son??

Joey's ear got better just before flying.

He also got the special ear plugs for flying, and arrived in Florida, from Vancouver, on April 1st. On April 2nd he told us the ear was almost 100 percent, and he will, with the other, great DESTINO tenors be performing, in the COLORADO BALL ROOM DISNEY WORLD tonight at 7 pm.

This help was so effective, and helpful, to our young Canadian tenor, Joey Niceforo. I'm sure this input and therapy advice will, and has helped others.

You need to get Bactine first aid pump spray. It's an antiseptic. Just spray it on the back and front. I used it on my belly piercing which I still sometimes have problems with now and again, but this will fix you up. It has anesthetic in it too, to help with the pain. Turn the studs once a day(after the anesthetic kicks in). Leave the earrings in though unless you want to have the holes close up. I have sensitive ears too and this works every time! I recommend this product to all mothers for scrapes etc. It's awesome on sunburns and insect bites as well!

First, do not take the piercing out. Doing so may trap the infection in the peircing once the outside begins to close and heal. The best thing to do is a saline rinse twice a day. The easiest stuff to use is called Wound Wash (you can find it in any drugstore). It comes in a spray can. After you rinse with saline be sure to wash it with antibacterial soap and water--and saline residue can aggrivate it more so. The soap I like best is Dial. They have a particualr one that foams when you pump it--it makes putting it on your ears to clean VERY easy. Once you clear up the infection you can take the earing out if you want, but otherwise it shuold be fine.

DO NOT USE ALCOHOL--alcohol only dries out the skin and can make the infection worse and last longer.

My ears got infected from a poor piercing job. Continue cleaning your ear with the alchohol or the cleaning solution the piercing place gave you (if any.) Also, see a professional. And if your ears are okay after the piercing, I suggest not buying the cheap imitation silver earrings, because they make infections worse for some people, just use the gold ones, they are alot better

DON'T take out the piercing, go to a professional so they can look at it and take it out. If you take it out you might bust the abcess or you might spread the infection further, my lip piercing gets infected a lot so I brush my teeth a lot and rinse with a mixture of 3 parts water and 1 part mouthwash, and i do sea salt soaks *a little bit of sea salt mixed with warm water works well, if you can find it, use charcoal salt, aka black lava salt, the charcoal helps a lot* and soak your piercing in it for 5 minutes 1-2 times a day*
