Avoid - Stay away from - Don't use --- Shaklee protein powder

My friend (now dead from botched heart surgery) used this product every morning, for 3 years. . . he had high blood pressure and high cholesterol - then a stroke . . . while he was quite physically active, and drinking this laboratory created stuff.

When the stroke did not kill him, he stopped all the artificial daily supplements (protein powder, etc) - and 'curative drugs' for BP, etc. and his body amazingly achieved 'normal' function levels. . .

I feel that the rampant use of man made, dietary supplements, is one of the root causes of many of today's illnesses. If the earth did not create and support it, I won't eat it. . .

These days, it seems like there are more and more bodybuilders taking in more protein in some form or another. Just walk around the local grocery store, and you'll likely find an assortment of protein-enriched cereals and even "high"-protein oatmeal. Whether the type of protein is soy, whey, casein, or milk... it's all about one thing: protein.

Of course, one of the best ways to get the amount of protein that your diet requires is through solid food, but as I am sure many bodybuilders would agree, it is not always easy to get all of their protein though solid foods. Especially when you carry out a full time job and don’t always have time to prepare meals, through which to get your protein. This is where protein shakes have their place.

Protein: The Benefits

So why is it that so many bodybuilders take protein shakes? Well, protein is used for the production of muscles. Proteins are also used to manufacture hormones, enzymes, cellular messengers, nucleic acids, and immune-system components. Without adequate protein, our bodies can't put together the structures that make up every cell, tissue, and organ, nor can it generate the biochemical substances needed for cardiovascular function, muscle contraction, growth, and healing. Without an adequate amount of protein our muscles wouldn’t heal up as quickly and could therefore lead to overtraining your muscle which could lead to injury.

Regardless of your goals, protein should be regarded as a foundational nutrient of any nutrition program …amp;quot; it's an essential ingredient for achieving optimal progress in physique enhancement and performance. It's certainly no secret that any person who is generally active in sports and/or trains with weights or other resistance will benefit from getting enough protein. However, even those who don’t bodybuild can find advantages to taking in protein. Many enjoy the anti-aging effects that a high protein diet can result in. But the only way to find out how beneficial protein can be for you, is to try it for yourself!

Unless you have some deficiency and have been advised by a medical doctor I would leave them alone for too much protein can really mess you up physically-kidney,liver ,cause diarrhea where you lose potassium-can be fatal(I experienced by taking protein pills). If you want to increase your protein-is it to build muscle-then just eat more chicken-baked only or eat more turkey-the dark meat and this also applies to chicken is higher in protein. You can buy at Deli-1/2lb at a time or 1lb if you eat every day- take 4-5 pieces and roll together and eat-easy, probably more than the chicken. If you are wanting to build muscle cut out junk food(maybe treat yourself 1/week) cut way down on sugar, increase your vegetables and fruit-you'll be much healthier. And drink WATER-7-8 glasses a day and can be carbonated or flavored but watch the sodium content. Get a workout magazine-pay no attention to the Supplement Ads but do to the real food advice for have some very good advice for real food nutrition-different mags for cycling.

NO..Many PT advise Shakes for the following reasons.
1) As a meal replacement, Using 1 at Breakfast is very popular because we tend to be rushed in the morning.
2) Added nutrition for weight gain or muscle gain
3) Keep blood sugar up so it stays steady & keep person from binge eatting. This helps a person lose weight too.
To keep metabolism up we are supose to "eat" 5 or 6 small meals aday. Shakes work well in this lifestyle.
There are many kinds of Protien Shakes on the Market even Vegan ones so look around for 1 that suits you & your needs.

Not really, I guess they are better if you buy the vanilla and add strawberries and banana to make it taste good. I used the Mega Mass 2000 , drinking half a serving with breakfast and another half with dinner. Consider it dessert. I exercised alot, mainly pushups sit ups, squats and such. I also ran a couple of miles...I recommend running on a track for safety and other reasons. The only negative effect I can think of is it gives you energy. If you aim to be a couch potato that could be a bad thing, right?

To much of any thing isnt good for you. Generally depending on what you take there are no side effects. When you work out your mussles tear and expand. You need the ammino acids in proteins to rebuild your muscles. If you dont get enough protein your muscles break down and dont rebuild. If your scared take whey protein it is the safest bet. If you take make sure you dont over do it and remember to drink plenty of water.
