I will be getting a pretty good bit of dental work done before long and it includes getting a partial for the top. Has anyone out there ever had a partial or have any experience with it? I am kinda freaked out. But I have to do what I have to do.

I do not have a partial but 2 years ago at age 36 I got dentures up top. It was the best decision I ever made. I had the 5 teeth I had left pulled and dentures put right in. 18 hours later I was out shopping with my kids. No pain. It will take some adjusting to eating again for it is a foreign object in your mouth. If it is in for the back teeth your gag reflexes may be very active, but that will go away in a few weeks. I had several appointment to make sure they would fit right and then several appointments after checking for sores. But never had a problem with them. Good luck

I take it this is just a partial, not the full set on top, there should be no problem, your dentist will be able to adjust it properly if it is too tight or too loose, sometimes when you first get them you might experience a sore spot here or there, but your mouth has got to adjust also, it will be okay.just let the dentist know of any problems.

I have one temporarily myself. It takes some getting used to , you will talk funny until you get used to it. I could not get used to the permanent one, which has metal on the palatal area, so I got a State Plate also called a flipper, it is a light weight plastic, much more comfortable.
