It sounds like she was really traumatized when she was little from the shots (like the rest of us were, but maybe more so for her) I feel badly for her, she must be so scared to go and lock herself away. Do you think if you changed doctors it might help? At least, she wouldn't have all the terrible memories at a new office. I would try that first and if she still is so scared I would take her to get some couseling.

Some kind of grand reward should work and always be right by her side and distract her. My wife is deathly afraid of the doctor too and she's 32. I have to promise her some fancy award for going and hold her hand the whole time. She's been that way since she was little too.

im like her. i HATE shots. im deathly afraid of them. what helps is when i go to the doctor they have me talking about something long like school and stuff and they give me a shot and i dont no it was even done. (of course i still faint at the thought of it but u could try to tell her that they r only doing it for her good. and maybe u can reward her afterward like an icecream or something

My brother was afraid of the Doctor and Dentist. When we were little kids, 4 and 5. It would take 5 people to hold him down just to look in his ears. He's 40 now and still terrified he won't go until he's too sick to fight.

Try making it into a fun day.Tell her if she does good at the doctor you will take her out to lunch and buy her something nice. After awhile the initial shock of hearing you have to go to the doctor will not be as tramatic for her.Good luck God bless:O)

i'm 29 & i still freak out... some people are just phobic. Try bribing her- a favorite new pair of shoes hanging in the balance just might give her the strength!

the only thing i can think of is to sit and talk to her. tell her that it is better she gets her shots then to be ill or get those illnesses from people
ask her if she wants chickenpox or something like that or would she rather be healthy.
good luck
