I reckon there's gonna b quite a few baby boys named Preston this year after watching celeb BB! If you want an unusual name I'd re-think coz although its not common now u may find there are 5 other Prestons in his class at school!! If that doesn't bother u then just go 4 it! ur the 1 going through all the hard work and pain (sorry but it DOES hurt!) so u get the privilege of choosing his name.
Good luck! Its all worth it in the end!!

Preston is a perfectly fine name; no matter what name you chose, some of your friends would not like it, and your mum may or may not like it.
YOU are the mom and it is YOUR choice; yours and the baby's father, perhaps, but basically it's up to you to pick. All mum's think they know better than their own children, it goes with the territory unfortunately; just remember it is proof that your mum cares about your baby, but she picked your name and now you will pick your child's name.
Preston is the English name meaning Priest's Town. It gets three stars out of five in votes taken at the Babynames website.
Congratulations to you and Preston!

The only other Preston I've heard of (as a name) was the guy from Celebrity Big Brother (singer from The Ordinary Boys).
It's not a name that I would chose for a son of mine, but that's the point isn't it... you chose a name that YOU like!
Enjoy your new baby!

Sorry but I'm with your mum!
I'm from England and there is a really dreary town there called 'Preston"....I guess I would also be concerned that the kids at school would shorten the name to "Pressy" or "Press stud"...sorry but I have teens and school kids are mean!!!!!!

If you have decided to call the baby after an industrial city in the north west of England why are you still looking for approval? You say you ARE calling him that, ergo what difference does it make what we or anyone thinks?

That name is my favorite boys name I think it is perfect!
this is your baby and name him what you want. My mother disagreed with everyname I choose for my daughter and I still named her what I wanted. and She is perfect! If you go with everyone else you'll never get a name to suite everyone! I think you should stick with Preston!
