not at all, there are many crosses all around the area, sadly, where i live and nobody seems to mind. it reminds people to slow down and be more aware. sorry about the loss

No. However, (e.g.) if the cross is the size of the one looming above Rio de Janeiro Brazil, I might think that it would cause a bit of a stir.

If a cop ever issued a ticket for that, and it was not a distraction, he should be placed in jail himself for being such an ******.

Honestly, yes. They are placing distractions up on the side of a road. Most of the times it is on a road where many accidents happen, so placing a cross with flowers or pictures as a memorial will likely cause more accidents as people are naturally "looky-loos" and will not pay as much attention to the dangerous road they are on. Your loved one may have died there, but they are no longer there, they are not on this earth, so remember them fondly but do nothing that may inadvertantly cause harm to people who are still living.

There was a similar case where I live. The state made the person remove the cross on the highway because it obstructed traffic. Though it is morally wrong.. they can do many things in this situation for many reasons.. so yes.. they can make her take it down. Good luck to your mom.. best wishes.

no!!!! that's stupid!!!! It's not hurting anyone to do that like speeding (watch out for pedestrians!!), running a red light or stop sign (crash!!), and parking in the red zone do. It's just honoring a loved one. I would be very, very, very pissed if a cop came up and gave me a ticket. I wouldn't consider it graffiti because graffiti is something do for fun, plus it looks ugly. I cross on the side of a road (with some flowers) looks very pretty.

i am straddling the line on the cross issue. at first i understood... the reasoning..but they are everywhere now.. all up and down the highway. it is a little eerie... like a jinks or something. it may be taking things to another level..that is not good. it is like honoring the spot that took a loved one, i would use the money for worthy cause.. in honor of the deceased

No: As long as it doesn't create a hazardous condition such as using candles or blocking a traffic sign. Placing a medest memorial may actually help the safety situation by reminding people to mind their speed.

I don't think she should get a ticket. That is a place where someone she loved died. People need to put themselves in others shoes.

no way....they should be able to put up a memorial...except i heard stories that the only way they let you keep up crosses and such is if you "adopt a highway" meaning clean up litter along the roadways. i dont think its fair though, you should be able to keep a cross up
