1. Contact a Local Church.
One of the easiest ways to obtain a free Bible is call a local church. Most large churches have a surplus of "left behind" Bibles in their lost and found. My church has so many unclaimed Bibles that we ask a local prison outreach to come and distribute them to prisoners. Some churches will even give away a new Bible if you don't have one. Don't be shy! If you truly need a Bible, most Bible teaching churches will be happy to set you up.

2. Sign Up for a Free Bible.
Several sites offer free Bibles, but proceed with caution! There may be strings attached:
• Bibles for America - A Free Recovery Version New Testament
• USA Bibles - Free King James Version
• Shop Here Free - Free King James Bible

3. Contact One of These Bible Societies.
If you are looking for a large quantity of free Bibles for distribution in a ministry, consider contacting one of these Bible societies. Although obtaining free Bibles is not guaranteed, they will provide quidelines for requesting free Bibles, and may be able to accomodate your ministry.
• Crosswire Bible Society ( http://www.crosswire.org/index.jsp )
• The Gideons( http://www.gideons.org/ )
• International Bible Society ( http://www.ibs.org/ )
• American Bible Society ( http://welcome.americanbible.org/intro/

Church

I read your question thouroughly, and apparently some of the preceding people who answered didn't. YES, just about every church in your neck of the woods has FREE Bibles for the asking. I know. You say you can't really go to church, and don't know anyone who does. I have a suggestion/idea. I'm sure you know of all the churches in your area and know where they are located. Get the phone book and start calling those churches, (with God's help, you'll only have to call one) and ask, of course if they have any Bibles that they would distribute FREE for the asking. (you'll probably be talking to the receptionist). When they say yes, (notice I didn't use the word IF) inform them that you really can't get there to pick it up. Then ask if the Pastor or Preacher could possibly bring one by your house one day when he is out and about and has an extra moment when he could drop it off to you. It's highly likely that when that moment does arrive, he/she will have made time to talk to you for a few moments about your current religious practices. Don't be afraid to tell him that currently you don't practice any particular religion but you are very intrested in learning about what the Bible has to say. At that point, let God take it from there, listen to your heart, that's where you'll find God.

To slightly shift matters a bit, don't let friends/family try to humiliate you for your intrest in God. Chances are pretty good that you have family members (mom, dad, bro, sis, aunt, uncle, cousins) and friends that are also intrested in the word of God, but they are too embarassed to say anything in front of the others. That can make the learning experience much more enjoyable and meaningful when you share it with someone else.

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

I pray you find your Bible and your answers to that which you seek. God Bless

There are quite a few translations out there. Some of which aren't the most acurate according to scholars. It's a shame, but if you get a free Bible it could possibly be from a cult and full of errors. My honest recommendation is to go to www.biblegateway.com and view the versions of the online bibles that are listed. Then, go to the store and purchase one. My recommendation is the NIV (New International Version). It's pretty much everyday language but not too "watered down". Meaning that what the original manuscripts were saying, it pretty much says. If it really hurts your pocketbook, e-mail canciondelacorazon@yahoo.com and send me your scanned receipt. I'll reimburse you up to $25.00. However, the most important thing, I believe, is to pray. Tell God that you want to know Him, but you're not sure how. Lead me and guide me into all TRUTH. He'll answer your heartfelt prayer.

You can get one virtually anywhere, but the best choice would be from a church. Sometimes, there are people who hand out bibles in front of the school.

I'd still recommend using the one online --- www.blueletterbible.com it has commentaries other bibles to help with research. I would also recommend talking to Messianic Jews and ministers in your area that have well established churches and are in good standing... also look into http://www.wycliffe.org/

You used to be able to get them from motel/hotel rooms. They were provided to them for free and it was OK to take one with you upon your departure. They were not cheap either. They had leather covers and bindings and gold edging on the pages and printed on high quality paper. Today this quality of a Bible will cost $50 - $100.

Thank you for asking!
go to your local church and ask for one. You may want to talk to someone to get him to point out the best passages for you.
Or you could sign up for a free bible here.
