Alcohol is a molecule with limited variation. Liquors (which contain alcohol) are fermentations of different kinds of grains / fruits. The fermentation produces alcohol.

For example: wine = grapes; beer = hops; vodka = grains / potatoes; tequila = agave; whiskey = corn and other grains, etc.

Many people believe that mixing different liquors in the same sitting will make you sick.

That's not necessarily true. If you normally mix alcohol, you will be fine. For example, if you always drink bourbon and beer... it won't make you sick. (You wouldn't do it if it did!)

Alcohol is an amazing poison... it eats through many kinds of organic molecules, and so it can bypass a lot of the parts of your body that digest food and prevent food from going directly to your bloodstream. Alcohol gets into your bloodstream very quickly.

Actually, though, the ethanol molecule (alcohol) is not as dangerous to you body as the different molecules that it metabolizes into once it gets inside. That's why you feel more groggy or sick hours after drinking alcohol. The ethanol has broken down and produced even worse kinds of molecules floating around in your blood.

If you drink a lot, your body will get better accustomed to having alcohol inside. And it will generally be best accustomed to the alcohol "of choice." So many drinkers just stick with one kind.

Plus, its very "cool" to only have a limited number of drinks. I personally like gin. So mostly that's what I drink.

The basic difference is proof (the amount of actual alcohol in teh mix) and taste.

Absolute Citron is 80 which is pretty strong, but that has a hint of lemmon/lime/orange taste..which 99 Bananas is 99 proof which is stronger then Absolute, taste more like alcohol and taste kind of like banannas.

The higher the proof the less alcohol you need to get drunk.

I have tried a couple different alcohols in my life and came to find out I preferred whiskey. I have other friend that prefer Tequilla, others Vodka, others Rum. I will try others if offered, but I don't want to buy a bottle of something to find out I don't like it, so I just stick to good ol' Jack Daniels. It is smart to stick to one type of alcohol because it lessens the damage you will feel in the morning as a hangover.

Chemically speaking there are hundreds of different alcohols.
The only ingest able one is ethyl alcohol (C2H5OH)
It is present in all types of alcoholic beverages and there is no different in any of them. The high you get drinking one or another drink is exactly the same. It depends only on the amount you drink. Besides the alcohol, all spirituous drinks contain other chemicals. Beer contains some protein in form of albuminoids. Wodka or Vodka contains only alcohol and water.
In my country, we drink Rum, Caipirinha, and whatever we can afford.

Differences? Well...how they're fermented, how much is acceptable for each beverage for openers. I would have to say people don't drink one or two types (if you mean in the context of hard liquor, beer, wine, cider, ooo...a favorite of everyones...Mead.
People drink more than one type of drink because they enjoy variety. others do it because they have no tastes and will drink kerosene if they knew they catch a buzz.
Others enjoy the feeling it gives. It can enhance their conversation, make them happy, often angry and give people the reasoning of becoming bold enough to rappel down the side of your 4 story college dormitory using bedsheets roped together.
So much for higher education.

So, people imbibe for a variety of reasons. You see. there is no "one" answer to this question.

Excuse me. I need another beer.

Different alcohols are made from different ingredients. Wines are made from grapes, beer from barley and hops usually, and hard alcohols are generally made from different types of ingredients. Vodkas are usually made from corn, wheat, rye or potatoes. Gin is vodka that has been flovored with juniper berries (generally).Rums are made from sugar cane juice or molasses. Cognac is white wine that has been aged in oak barrels.

I don't know why people only drink one or 2 types. Maybe they've had bad experiences with vodka for example, and tend to stay away from it.

I think that you have had people answer for the differences between, so I won't repeat.

I think that people favor a beverage for several reasons:
1- what they are taught - what ever their parents drink they will likely drink
2- Experiences - good, bad and ugly
3- Taste - everybody's is different
4- Mood/Occasion - are you celebrating, or depressed?

Those are just my thoughts.

because they develope a preference for it. And also they cause different efects and some are harder . for example, Vodka is very easy to take with juice, pop or drinks, but it's very strong and dangerous because you can hardly taste it. Tequila is strong and tasty, but it causes major hang overs. scotch and burbon are more ment to be drinked straight, so it's ussually dranked by people who likes hard drinks.
I personally like wine, or straight chilled vodka.

training is solid, via fact it teaches you how to examine, the thank you to self-discipline your suggestions. understanding for a Christian is understanding the notice, understanding your God, His nature, His will, His outlook on issues. understanding is staring at issues from God's attitude and putting them into action. understanding is large, yet too a lot of it may puff you up in case you do no longer counteract it with fruit of the Spirit. Ever understand a individual who's very knowledgeable, yet has no temperance and no love? Their understanding is almost ineffective in the long-term. yet understanding? you detect that and your soul shall stay, via fact once you detect understanding, you detect the way God Himself seems at a concern. Proverbs 3: via understanding the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, via understand-how he set the heavens in place; via his understanding the watery depths have been divided, and the clouds enable drop the dew.

what do you mean different alchohols? beer is different because of the way it is brewed, you have malt and hops. different grains, amouts of yeast, rice wine to barley beer. grapes are used in wine. wheat. how long stuff is brewed. glass or wood barrels. all of that has to be taken into consideration. and people drink what they like be it one two of five kinds. though not in one night unless you want to get sick.
