A mushroom is a fungus, but there is no fungus/fungi group. A mushroom isnt a veggie, or a fruit, or grain, meat, poultry, bean, or nut...but it also isnt something like candy or things that are in the "use sparingly" group......so is a mushroom even a food? What food group is it in?

Some foods like mushrooms fall into wierd groups. Foods fall into groups based upon their nutritional content. So I believe mushrooms fall into the meat category.

Technically, their not plants, they're fungi. But they are placed in the vegetable section of the grocery store, so they're veggies

veggies. when you look at those food pyramid charts, mushrooms are always pictured in with the veggies. peanuts are classified with meats, not veggies, did you know that?
