There are Henna dyes, they come from plants & aren't damaging to the hair. They give hair a redish color. However if you have highlights in your hair(or your hair is light) it will turn a bright orange red. & once you put Henna on your hair you can't get rid of it. It can't be dyed over or stripped you'll have to wait for it to grow out before you can do anything else with your hair.
I suggest using a Demi permanet color(they have no amonia in them so they're less harsh) or a temporary color (it doesn't hurt the hair because it doesn't actually dye the hair it just coats it)

Henna. You can go to a beauty supply store and find it in several different shades. It usually comes in powder form, and you can mix it (directions are on the packet), and apply. It's semi-permanent, so it will stay for a few weeks, although it will fade faster than normal dye.

Have you thought of using the Aveda line? It is more natural than others.
