Truth in the abstract suggests a conformity with idealized thought and in reality to existential experience. Truth cannot be both true and untrue, that is, it cannot violate the law of non-contradiction.
Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life."
I would say the best way to find truth is to look for it. Some people say that religion is contrary to reason but I disagree with this. The Bible exhorts us to excersize our minds and if faith was contrary to reason then wouldn't it be non-sensical to say "I have a reason to believe"?
You have been created with senses both intellectually and physically. At birth you are aware of your surroundings and a sense of self involvement with your surroundings. As you grow and mature you become more and more connected to the experience of your external environment and make prejudices regarding circumstances both physical and metaphysical.
You have already found truth. Whether you admit it or not there are truths that are not in need of proofs. They are called truths of first reason and are axiomatic. Time is a truth of this sort as is space. No one has to explain the reality of these truths for they can no longer be denied or disproved than can the mathematical truth that one plus one will always equal two.
There is a truth that can be known by experience but does not require experience to validate itself. These are truths that may need proofs but cannot be denied for they are known intrinsically to be true as soon as the terms of their condition are understood.
Universal benevolence would be a truth of this sort.
Ultimately as I have experienced and tested the truths of the
world around me and the claims of what proported to be truth but experience and intellectual cognizance showed to be falsehood I have discovered this one simple truth to have been the most lasting and satifying and that is that Jesus Loves Me, this I know... For the Bible tells me so.

God Bless you in your search.

Pounces Pilot said to Christ What is Truth?
Some know it when they hear it.
Some refuse to hear it
And some prefer a lie
And many can not tell the difference.

God is eternal; Christ died for the sins of the world.
There are many but can you see them or are the lies sweeter?

Read with wisdom the bible to find them all.
