Well it can depend on when they get teeth. My kids could eat most anything within reason my 1 year. But I've seen others have to wait due to allergies. Just choose soft food and gerber has great things to choose ad they even ask what stages your kids are in. Like crawling, walking and picking things up...sitting up. Go by that for now.

1. Talk to your pediatrican. That's the first key--be sure to get the doctor to update you on what's good and not good.

2. We introduced "people food" when we started baby food at the age of 6 months. He's more interested in what is on our plate anyway. We stay away from dairy and spicey foods, but he loves mashed potatoes and bread. We just to make sure that he gets his veggies and fruits every day.

3. You don't really have to give the baby food like baby zwiback biscuits. It's just like the stages of baby food--there's no magic age. We used veggie puffs for a LONG time until we realized we could save money and use cherrios.

4. I can't stress enough how important it is to check with your doctor. The internet is a great place to get advice, but when it's the health of your child I would check with a professional.

Good time is when the child is starting to get some teeth, when you notice the gums starting to swell give em a baby bicut or a carrot to chew on, now you can give em the baby rice, oat type stuff and baby food as soon as a month and half, really depends on your child, you can try different baby foods to see the reaction, believe me, your child will let you know if they are ready...now as far as the grown up food, well if you can't stand the smell of the baby foods, you can get a blinder that can make baby food out of about any ol'food..just give it to your child in small bites...

You look pretty young and maybe this is your first baby. Go to your library and take out a book on parenting. Usually they correspond to the different stages in a child's development. You really need to do this. Zwieback's are crunchy/hard - the first foods you give to a baby not only have to be easy to chew/digest, they also have to be easy on a child's digestive tract. Do yourself a favor and find a book on this before you make a mistake that could be damaging.

zwieback biscuits are usually for teething babies with no teeth as they can bite pieces of them off. My 9 month old is pretty much on people food. He eats really well. Cheerios and kix and cooked green beans are great finger foods...

Around 6 months, you should introduce this baby to baby food, stages 1.
You could also try ( our food) mashed potatos, mashed zucchini, or squash, green beans are good, gravy that you put over bisquits,( not much in the salt &pepper department).

My 7 month old is enjoying solid foods. It helps to get a device that holds the food in a mesh. Your baby bites/sucks the food out.

You usually start at around 6 months but it will vary depending on the child....my oldest boy (now 22), I called him "little buddha", started eating me out of house & home at 5 months. Ask your doctor though. And do yourself a favor, start with vegetables, if you start with fruits, he/she will wind up spitting out their peas later. I gave my "little ones" biscuits when they started teething, I can't remember at what age that was.

You should go to Chinatown and buy some noodles. I suggest Udon noodles. Boil them until the water bubbles, let them cool, cut them into bite sized pieces for your baby!

You can make a noodle soup, too.
