You are a Catholic in transition and recently discovered Protestant Christianity. You are not a Jew, so unless you want plan to convert (something not encouraged), you need to find a good rabbi to help you through the Holy Scriptures (Old Testament). I can not find anyone more qualified than Jesus in the four Gospels (Jesus administered to the Jews).

For Buddhism, I recommend a simple book by entitle "Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind".

Unless you are from India, Buddhism is a branch from Hinduism. It pluralism are difficult understand especially for one from Judeo-Christian culture.

Islam has many places and finding one is easy and difficult at the same time. The basic issue for Islam is which prophets you listen to.

Now that I have said this, I would suggest that you understand the Christian view of the bible as God's word as spoken through the prophets.

You seem confused and want more information. I will try to provide the framework by discussing your path and the roads you choose.

You are on a path. It started with birth and it will end in death. The fact that you are here means you have started. There are many roads of choice, and when you choose a road, it will become part of your path, your journey. Before you are many roads, and the next choice is yours.

You wish to find the true meaning of life, purpose on earth, and an understanding of what the world it. So what road is that? And how do you choose a road that finds them. Many roads, your choice.

Start with a simple road: Do I exist? Answer I think therefore I am. So thought provides an explanation of this path. Next road, Does God exist? Now we are stuck. Is there a proof that God exists? Remember “not allow roads” use God, the road to enlightenment is one of them.

Roads that uses the bible do not answer the question does God exists; it assumes it. Is this the right? Eventually, only the concept of belief will get you unstuck and moving to your path.

So what do you believe, will help you choice a road. A road to truth? A road to meaning? A road to purpose? An understanding of how the world works. But what do you believe?

Now to separate roads, I would like to divide them into two types: Roads based on what God reveals (revelation) and roads based on what man observes (scientific method). What God reveals and what man observes does not always agree. For example, no matter what man observes, he cannot observe God (God is spirit).

I am sure that the “God reveal roads” will be discussed: All of the require belief. (Remember, what do you believe?) And they have all the answers to your questions, but to make those roads apart of your path, you must choice one, and to choice one you have to believe. [For example, the bible is not a conversation manual but the word of God as given to the prophets. To choose that road, you have to believe the assumption, God exists.] It is the “God reveal roads” you are trying to choose.

Let talk about roads where man observes. You can not claim that there is no God, because you can not claim there is God. At best you can say you don't know. So lets talk about the meaning of life. What has man observed? There are many books however one cames to mind, Man Search for Meaning by Frankl. You can choose this road by reading the book. It means you have travel farther, but you will need more roads. Why are we here road? Science has documented its theories that starting at the small chemical compound, we will evolve to where we are? This is a theory explaining observed facts. It does not tell us anything except we are in a system that will produce man over time. So this roads answer why we are here (or better yet how we got here. The roads that answer what makes the world what it is consist of understand where we came from (history, geography), but never answers how we can make it better.

I presented a brief list of roads that you can use on your path. I have combined religious roads and worldly roads. Most of us use roads from both (revealed and observed). So there you have a sample of roads that you can choice, how you make that decision is up to you.

I will tell you two stories.

There is a story about a young man went up to a Rabbi and asked him to explain all the Holy Scriptures while standing on one foot. The Rabbi did so and then told the young man to study.

There is another story about a Christian asking a Zen master for advice since Christianity did not solve his problems. The master said go and master Christianity and come back to me to master Zen.

Good luck with your path.

It's most useful to study the origin and history of religion itself, from the stone age down to present times. Then you are in a better position to keep what's helpful and useful to you and discard the rest. Why should any one religion have a monopoly on truth? You may find that most are derived from myth, and myth itself is beautiful, interesting, and meaningful to many aspects of life. I don't believe it is necessary to accept or reject anything as a "package deal", nothwithsatnding claims to the contrary.

I am an excatholic also. I say look for an Assembly of God Church as fast as you can!!!

If you have been raised Catholic, you will not be able to tolerate the mentioned religions. Assembly of God is a church for all christians.

It won't be long until the end of the world. Don't ruin yourself now.

Well, if you are a saved Christian, why would you immediately turn your back on your Savior by worshipping someone or something else? Why do you claim that you are saved? This question doesn't reflect a Christ-like attitude.

Sounds like you are confused, but Protestantism will do that to you. You should return back to the Catholic Church since it's the only Church that was founded by God Himself.

do NOT use Internet sources to research religion, they are highly opinionated, sometimes inaccurate and wont help you discover your true path.

Instead go to a library and read up on different religions. That way you can decide for yourself rather than have people push their beliefs on you.

Good luck.

Well, Ms. Demon, it seems to me that since you are recently saved, you have it covered. You can pretty much do as you want from here on in, so why look elsewhere?
