The phrase “a personal relationship with Jesus,” is not found in the Bible. Thus, there is no sustained systematic theological reflection on what the phrase means. As a result, using the language of personal relationship is bound to lead to all sorts of confusion.

Rather than saying, “I have a personal relationship with Jesus,” why don’t people say instead, “I have faith in Jesus,” or “I believe in Jesus.”?

They do that to make themselves look good. having a "Personal Relationship" with someone sounds a lot better than "faith in someone" They are trying to make their religion sound more appealing.

Ahhhh, the brainwashed masses and their pitiful attempt at evangelism.

You're not going to find the sentence," A personal relationship with Jesus." in the bible. And in my own personal belief and what I feel in my relationship w/ Jesus DOES NOT lead to any confusion because it's between me and my lord. does not involved an explanation or reason to be given to anyone be cause its a personal feeling i have inside about how i feel in the way that i believe in him and that our conversations between myself and Jesus are secret. Only in prayer and thought do I wish for him to help me when I need him most. If i were to confide in some human begins as i do him, I'd be laughed at and ridiculed,.
That's why I have a "personal relationship with Jesus. He'd never treat me or even think of me as an ordinary person does,. That's why he's the son of our LORD.
I hope I have help you in your question. because there should be NO confusion in any of your relationships at all,. Much less in god.

Take care and god bless.

When you have a "personal relationship" it is basically referring to the fact that you live your "faith". Giving you a couple examples, I have faith that I will be successful in business but that does not mean I will be successful. I could also say that I believe the earth is flat - see what I mean, the earth could be flat or it could be round or square or oblong?

Going back to the business part, if I have faith but do nothing, I will surely fail in business even though I have the faith I will be successful. Remember, you can believe in something without acting on it. Faith without works is dead and works without faith is dead - Hope this helps

Faith is a personal act; often the feel of the person taking the act seems like a direct intervention of Christ.
Something like a oneness with Jesus. A very personal experience.
It is life changing. That is why.

I was led to understand the relationship was with Christ, not Jesus. Was he not simply the intercessor for the experience that is Christ?

Why do children always prefer the box to the present?

Once you come to Christ and get to know him through prayer and reading the Bible, you come to know him, just like you get to know somebody when you become their friend and then you have a personel relationship with them!

In the bible it is said we are heirs w/Christ. If we are to share w/Him all that God gives is that not a "personal relationship"?

I believe in Jesus as savior and risen lord. I think a lot of the Bible is allegory. Thanks!
