I live in Spain where we have the 5th best health system (Britain comes in 14th).
What holds you in Britain?
Its not the weather.
Its not the Health care.
Its not the standard of living.
Surely you realise you just work to exist!!!!
Does your life have such highs that life in 'GREAT' Britain is so grand.

I had a great job in Britain.
A power engineer with an energy supply company but gave it up as I wanted to bring up my new daughter in a promising life.

Spainish hospitals are not exactly the best in the world, and the Spanish actually look at our system and try to emulate it.
The weather is actually very hot at the moment, 36C the other day.
The standard of living is extremely good if you have a good job and don't whinge all the time about wanting to live abroad.
I have a wide variety of friends from all cultures, have visited all the continents apart from Antartica and have come to the conclusion that there is no where I would rather live then in Britain.
I am sorry that you are not patriotic enough, or happy enough that you don't want to live here.
I bet you still call yourselves British though and maintain a British passport because of the benefits it has. Maybe you should get rid of it and apply for a Spanish one.

I stay in Britain for a number of reasons

1] Nearly all the people I love are here - to me relationships are more importnat than places.

2] The UK is the most beautiful country in the World - with wonderful changes in scenery every forty miles or so - a combination of woods, forests, glades , fields with sheep and cattle, hedges, rivers, streams hills, mountains, lakes, exciting cliffs and sea shores of every different type.

3] London is the most interesting Capital City in the world with its combination of history, architecture and live entertainment whilst other cities also have lots to offer.

4] Most people speak English, Our TV is in English and we shop in stores that are designed for our culture.

5] If i was seriously ill I know which country i would rather be in. Our health service may be maligned but it is still the best in the world.

6] the weather - i would not like temperatures in excess of thirty degrees for six months of the year. I love our combination of sunshine, cool showers, the occasional snow storm, the beauty of Spring and the glow of the autumn colours.

7} The food - Enough said

8] English papers on the day they are published

I could go on but I am sure you get the point. I am sad you are depriving your daughter of her heritage

I think the people of Great Britain need to wake up to a lot of things happening in their country.

I think for me its all about family ties .. and the fear of making such a big commitment .. ie : selling the house, ending the job, making the move !!

Ive only been able to do it half measure till now ... have a home in italy too that i use for 2 months of the year !!!!!

Maybe one day ... who knows !!!

simple answer is.. because we happen to like where we live...
we don't have to put up with loads of holiday makers coming for the sun
plus
why do you think so many people try to come here to live...
Britain is still the best country in the world..

I stay in my beautiful, cultured, historic, multi-cultural, sophisticated, dynamic, civilised country because all the whingers & losers have toddled off to drink themselves into oblivion in Spain.

Because some of us stay true to our country, not run away and let the foreigners take over.
