They don't read the signs, they just see the things sitting out and think "free for me!"

Usually Mexican immigrants are not illiterate, I mean, they had at least basic education, so, they are able to write, read, use maths, have facts about Geography, History or any other subject and have a remote idea of another language. I mean, if you find a house that has lots of things outside, you know that "sale" means "venta" because you've seen it lots of times in your country (it is very popular using that word in Mexico) and you see people buying things over there, isn't it obvious?

Well, have a nice dead day (nice avatar)!

Why do you claim that they're illiterate, then? Sounds like you've contradicted your own question.

I expect the Mexicans to become dominant in the next generation, as they probably are able to save enough to send their kids to college, and instill in them the attitudes necessary to be successful in life. That's more than I can say for how you must be raising your kids.

Though I've known a number of illegal Mexicans, I have never known one who is illiterate. At least not in Spanish.

I agree with the purple girl. It's probably not the sign so much as the gathering of people at the house with all the junk out front.
