My cousin is a granola chick, and her son has had RSV, full body yeast infections, and a mild case of staph since he's been alive. he's 4 months old. Why is that? I thought they were invincible? Sorta like that cool star you get on Mario Bros. and the goombas cant kill you.

God, what ***** cousin you must be.

Breast fed children do DO a little better than most, however IF HE has had a staph infection SINCE BIRTH as you state, then he's starting off at a disadvantage. Also, this infection CAN GROW TO KILL HIM IF HE'S NOT CAREFUL. Staph is nothing to joke about at all. He needs to be in the Hospital on serious antibiotics. This can also invade his colon and weaken him severly (it almost killed my 8 year old nephew 2 years ago this very way). While breast milk is great for normal healthly kids, kids on weakened immune systems need to be fed from bottles so that they are not passed infections from the mothers (also, your cousin has most likely caught the staph infection from her son, and has been re-infecting him again and again). So please don't be HAUGHTY OR I TOLD YOU SO, THIS IS NO TIME FOR IT. IF you feel you need to do something, call the health department and tell what you've said here. But first, give HER the chance to SEEK HELP FIRST!!!

The mother can only pass immunity through her breast milk to those things that she herself is immune to. Breast fed babies are not invulnerable! The baby must have picked up the RSV virus somewhere as with the staph infection (my son got staph in the hospital when he was born). Also it is possible if the mother has a lot of yeast problems she may be transferring that to the baby through the milk. Adding bifidophilus and acidophilus to her diet will help that. The other 2 problems will need doctor's help.

If you would shut up and listen for once.... Breastfed babies can catch a cold like any other baby. The LONG TERM health benefits are what most of us (educated) moms are in it for. Lower risks of cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, crohn's disease, allergy, asthma the list goes on and on. So what if they catch a cold, they get over it faster than formula fed kids.

They get sick because they are human.
Some breastfeeders like to say that these kids never get sick. it is so not true. BUT, their chances of getting sick are reduced. That's all. I am breastfeeding my son just because I can.

All kids get sick. If her son would've been formula fed it probably would've been worse. Next stupid question from a stupid formula feeder and her stupid formula fed kids please.
