My little cousin is sleeping over and I don't want to bore her. We were supposed to go to the beach tomorrow but it's raining all week. Any suggestions on what to do?

Tell stories about your childhood, ask the kid if there's any questions, talk about the rain, do a scientific experiment, cook, digress a little and act like a kid. Know a different language? Teach it. Unusual hobby? Share it. Kids are open to experience. Encourage it. Talk about family and other influential people in the child's life. Talk about travel, making goals, being responsible with money, the war, politics, religion.

Read newspapers, do a crossword, read a book together, go to the movies. Just connect and don't let the TV babysit.

Ask the child what they would like to do, And you be the judge of if it's safe and what not.
Here's a few ideas though.
1. Play board games.
2. Get some coloring books. Color with her.
3. Play word games.
4. Help her make a scrap book. With the theme of family. Or maybe the things she would like to do if it were not raining.
5. Rent a few child's movies to watch with her, and eat popcorn.

As long as you do what ever with her..... You wont bore her. You will also build a stronger bond with her.

I hope this helps.

The best way to entertain a 10 year old child is to introduce to some kids who are of same age with whome he can play.

I have a 10yr old. I would suggest renting movies, do at home manicures and pedicures, my daughter loves to play with dolls, bake cookies, or even just to get out of the house my daughter likes to go to the mall and just window shop.

Get an inexpensive can of shaving cream and a cookie (baking) sheet... Spray small a small amount of shaving cream on the tray and let her paint and create things on the pan with it. Simply rinse the pan to start again.

Also consider baking or cooking something with her.

Do something that interests her. Find out what she likes an do it. You should be able to find something around that will fit. At ten you can score really big points with her if you take her some place 'adult' like, not a kiddy playground like place. Take her to see a play or opera(if she likes those sorts of things), something that most kids don't get to do often.

Take her to the mall. Or get some Lindsey Lohan or Amanda Bynes movies and watch them. Bake cookies. Get your nails done. Use your imagination, 10 yr. old's love to spend time with older females learning just about anything......have fun!
