it depends on what you label as 'correct' if yo mean is that the right name then no if you mean would you be looked at funnily if you did then to most people who ain't hobiest breeders it should be fine to call a baby bird a birdie. The actual name (in case you wanted to know) is a hatchling for a bird that has just hatched and a fletchling for a bird just learning how to fly/leaving the nest for the first time. Other names include chicks and young bird/birdie.

Here is a link that shows the proper names to call adult and baby animals. It's pretty interesting. If you call the baby bird "birdie" and he flies away, then it's the wrong name.

baby birds in a nest are called Nestlings or sometimes chicks, baby birds that have left the nest are Fledglings, because they have fledged the nest. Someone called them fletchlings, but that is incorrect. But I suppose if you want to call them birdie that is fine too.

you can call a baby bird a chick, a birdie, a birdbrain... doesn't matter- just call it by its frickin name!
