they grow inside the bottle. they put the bottle over the pear when its really small and let the pear grow, when it is big enough (and ripe) they cut the pear from the tree.
(it looks really weird to see the trees having a lot of bottles on all sides)

they put the pear in the bottle and attach the bottle to the tree when the pear is young and small enough to fit through the opening of the bottle. It grows inside the bottle.

I had never heard of it! So I did some research.. They really do grow the pear INSIDE of the bottle!! Amazing.. but at $80/bottle I think I will pass... They grow them not too far away from where I live too.. wonder if they give free tours.. :P

I saw this on a show on the Food Network...it's really cool, they stick the bottles on the tree limbs over the growing pears.

after the pear bloom is pollinated, a bottle is slipped over the bloom and the pear developed in the bottle until it is picked!

Yes this is true.. they make it grow inside the bottle, that's why these kind of liquers are a little more expensive from others because they need more care and follow up.
