Having a chronic disease can be very discouraging. I know about this firsthand. I have SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosis) and Sjogren's Syndrome. There are times when I feel like just throwing up my hands and calling it quits. Don't worry...This is a NORMAL feeling.

I encourage you to seek out others like you in the form of a support group. It often helps to talk to people who are going through the same thing you are. You can ask your doctor for a listing or just check on the internet for groups in your area.

I can't say that I know how YOU feel...but I do know how I feel. Yes, it does suck sometimes, but you know what? Even when life seems shitty, it's still good. There are just ups and downs no matter what.

By the way...I am an R.N.

One of the side effects of having Hepatitis C is depression. I don't know why this is so - whether it is due to the treatment or the illness, but it is very common. So, if you feel like giving up it is the Hep C talking - and you should talk to your doctor or see a counselor for the depression. Life is too short to waste being miserable - so make that phone call right away.

Honey, there's ALWAYS hope. Just because the doctors DON'T know how to cure it now doesn't mean they won't in the future!

I know 2 different people who were diagnosed with Hep C... And both have NO Hep C in their bodies anymore, thanks to treatment. There's no trace of it, in one it's been about 3 years, in the other it's been 2 years.

There's always hope, like another poster suggested, seek out support groups, there are other people who have what you have and can give you support.

Good luck!

Hep C can be well controlled, if not cured, with medications. Hang in there.
