Errr yes you should always be yourself and not be ashammed of that. at the end of the day if someone likes you they like you reguardless. if you lie they are eventually gonna find out about something like religion and not going to trust you. it works both ways imagine how you would feel if someone you like lied about something to you. its best to be honnest from the start and everyone knows where they stand.

It is probably not advisable, a friend of mine joined a University Christian Union because he fancied a girl, and needless to say he entirely failed to get off with her.
And if you succeeded, whether it was a friend or a boyfriend/girlfriend, they might not be too happy if they found out later that you lied.

If the person won't allow you to get to know him/her unless you are the same religion, then that person is closed minded and not worth knowing.

you can't build a decent relationship on lies, so making up something that is a big part of that person's life is going to take away all trust. if you want to get to know them, just talk to them and be yourself. people tend to feel cheated and humiliated if their friends or anyone they have a realationship with is lying to them.

if you want to know someone, you expect them to tell the truth, if you don't tell the truth, how do you expect them to tell you the truth about themselves? A relationship is built on mutual respect and honesty! Anyway liars are always caught!
