There have been younger girls who start periods these days.Everything to do with the whacky diets & growth hormones in our food stuff.Don't make her feel scared or guilty-she's perfectly fine.

Girls are starting earlier and earlier these days. It is normal anywhere from age 9 to 16 . The average is 12 or 13 but there are those who fall into the extremes of 9 or 16

yes thats apsolutely fine many girls are starting there period earlier and earlier now ranging from 9-11 years i would let the school nurse know maybe she could talk to her and keep an eye on her if your little girl needs to talk then she has some one at school and home to talk to i have a 9 year old daughter she hasnt started hers yet but its got to be upsetting knowing there growing into a little lady that fast time does go bye quick anyway good luck to you and your daughter and if you have any worries speak to your dr they can give you some information

Its at the young end of perfectly normal. Whats more difficult is that she's probably ahead of her friends and may not emotionally be ready for all the parental advice you tend to give when your daughter enters menarche. Go easy on her, make sure the basic biology is explained now, and add the gory details about boys and life as a woman as and when you can see she's ready for it.

My best friends daughter started her period at 9 yrs. old. Her pediatrician said that with all of the hormones that are used in meats, eggs and cheese (animal products). And with all of the preservatives in our diet, that it is really normal for girls to start earlier and earlier. My gyn. also said that is why women are going through the change at earlier ages as well......yippee, huh????

Well the average age group for girls to start is from 8 to 13 so she should be fine. If you really want to be sure go to the doctors and have her checked out.

Its tottaly and completely normal , i mean i got mine at 8 and im 17 now , im normal , but for some reason i dont know if it has anything to do with the fact i got it so early but i get extremely bad cramps on the second day , so do 2 other girls who got their periods young.

Maybe if you get it earlier you get worse cramps , i dont know...

It's normal. NOt fun for her.........but normal. It seems that girls are getting their "moon" (another term for period) earlier and earlier. Maybe it's a sign of kids having to grow up earlier in our day and age. Good luck!
p.s. Nettle tea, Raspberry leaf tea and ginger tea will help with her cramps! (all three together).

It's been proven that girls in this age are maturing and getting their periods at an earlier age.....make sure you do talk about it with her so she's next scared and mention it to the doc next time your there with her. Good Luck!
