Are you taking a multi-vitamin and eating a healthy diet? Plus, I wouldn't recommend dyeing it until you go gray if you cannot stand it. I dyed my hair red for years after it went from blond to brown. Now I am happy with my low maintenance brunette locks and I have grown them from very short to past shoulder length in 2 1/2 years by being healthy and getting regular trims. Unfortunately, there is no easy solution. It takes some discipline to do it right.

You only need to trim your hair if it's getting split ends. Hair is basically dead once it leaves your body so nothing you put on the outside will help it grow, only a healthy diet (but still limits it to the normal 1/2"/month). Just stop using permanent dyes it so it stops breaking off and looking shorter.

Ikay, I would just get the ends trimmed, less than an inch even, because once you get rid of the bad ends it will grow faster. I would also stop dying your hair, because it isn't helping, it is bad for your hair and then it will be ruined. you just have to be patient. I know that may be hard, but just try it.

Patience--
human hair seems to grow at a pretty consistent rate of about half a millimeter or so per day, or about half an inch every month It may grow faster or slower depending on your age, your genetics and your hormonal state (pregnancy seems to have an affect on hair), but half a millimeter per day is a good average.
That means on average about 6 inches a year.

GIRL, WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THAT THE KEY TO HEALTHY HAIR IS A HEALTHY SCALP. FROM THE SOUNDS OF IT, YOU ARE AFRICAN AMERICAN, WHICH MEANS, YOU HAVE TO TRIM YOUR HAIR! DON'T LISTEN TO THOSE ANSWERS WERE THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE TO TRIM THEIR HAIR AND IT IS ALL THE WAY TO THEIR WAIST, SHE DON'T KNOW THAT IT WILL SOON BREAK OFF ALL THE WAY TO HER ROOTS AND I AM PRETTY SURE HER HAIR IS REALLY DAMAGED! SO ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS WASH YOUR HAIR, KEEP IT OILED, (NOTICE I SAID OILED AND NOT GREASED) AND KEEP YOUR HAIR MOISTURIZED BECAUSE YOU HAVE COLOR IN IT.
PRODUCTS TO BUY: DR MIRACLE’S
I RECOMMEND THAT YOU GET THE DR. MIRACLE’S LINE. THIS WILL WORK GREAT FOR YOU BECAUSE DR. MIRACLE’S HELPS TO KEEP YOUR SCALP CLEAN, AND WHEN YOUR SCALP IS CLEAN, YOUR HAIR GROWS! SO GET THE SHAMPOO, AND THE HAIR SERUM. USE THE HAIR SERUM FOR YOUR SCALP AND YOUR HAIR TO KEEP IT MOISTURIZED. ALSO, GET A COLOR TREATED SHAMPOO SUCH AS NIOXION. THAT IS A GREAT SHAMPOO AND WHEN YOU RESEARCH IT, THE REVIEWS WILL SPEAK FOR ITSELF! AND MAKE SURE YOU WASH YOUR HAIR EVERY WEEK! YES! EVERY WEEK! MOST AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALES THINK THEY DON'T HAVE TO WASH THEIR HAIR THAT IT WILL GROW BEST DIRTY. WELL THAT IS A MYTH AND THEY ARE WRONG! ALSO TRY TO KEEP FLAT IRONS TO A MINUIM! INSTEAD OF CURLING YOUR HAIR, WET SET IT OR ROD SET IT. SO HONEY, I AM SURE THAT IF YOU TRY THESE METHOD'S YOUR HAIR WILL GROW IN NO TIME!
ALSO, GO TO THIS WEBSITE FOR SUPPORT! IT SHOWS YOU HOW TO GROW YOUR HAIR RIGHT! WHEN YOU GO TO BLACKHAIRMEDIA.COM VISIT THE FORUM. FOR THE OTHER LINK, JUST LOOK AT ALL THE PICTURES OF HER GROWTH CHALLANGE. HOPE THIS HELPS!

stay away from heat such as blow dryers, curlers, and straighteners etc... don't dye your hair and keep it as healthy as possible. if u want long hair u have to keep your hair in great condition.
since u dyed your hair i suggest that u do a weekly deep conditioning treatment, with a hair cap. u have to keep the deep conditioner on your moist hair for 30 minutes then rinse off. the rest u have to wait. oh yea one more thing u should buy a hair moisturizer. it keeps your hair soft when u put it on.
good luck
ps. stop cutting you hair!
