Is it a good workout that makes you fit, or does it calm your mind? Me and my 3 friends signed up for an hour long teen yoga class, just for fun, but, what should I expect? It's only a one time event, just a little thing at the public library for teen girls... what do you think they'll do? It sounds like fun...

Yoga is definitely good. Be careful with ur postures & positions. Make sure that the instructor checks u while doing the exercises. If u continue practising, the long term benefits are more like controlling diabetes, reducing ur waist line, etc. Some exercises also help with irregular mensturation and pain. But be careful and dont go overboard. All the best...

It's great for relaxation and toning. And contrary to what some others have said, you CAN loose weight with yoga, providing you do the right style of yoga. Ashtanga and Bikram Yoga are both more fast paced and good cardio workouts. And Bikram is "Hot Yoga" so you'll sweat a lot too! I'd recommend taking a basic class like the one you've signed up for first, then if you like it, try different styles. Keep in mind that you and your friends should keep quite and concentrate on the movements...I hate it when people try to chat or laugh in my yoga classes, it's distracting and takes away from the enjoyment of the asanas.

Yoga is fun and keep the body fit and the body calm. You will expect to do some simple yoga postures for beginner. Then you have intermediate and advanced classes. If you are interested , you can advanced yourself to teacher level.

certain types of yoga are mainly for relaxation, but other types are for strengthening and increasing flexibility. my friend is a yoga teacher and she is so buff! i used to do it 3x a week and i had a 6 pack!
by increasing your lean muscle mass with stength training (such as yoga/pilates) you are increasing the amount of calories that your body naturally burns during rest.
i also enjoyed yoga because i felt so centered after the workout. i really enjoyed the time for myself and felt that i was doing something great for my body!
hope you like it! make sure the instructor is coming around and checking your poses so you dont hurt yourself. if not, its not a good instructor for beginners!

Does absolutely nothing, i dont need yoga, to help me relax. Thats a waste of money. I lay in the hot water, in the tub, and get a good book to read. This helps alot.

Yoga has been around for many, many years. In addition to what the other posters have said, it makes you happy so you can change your avatar to a smiling one!! Get rid of that frown.

Yoga is mainly for reducing stress. It also helps you alot with your flexibility and since it reduces stress, if you are a bad tempered person, it will relax u a bit and you will have a sense of unawareness.
