Some joker has put the word round the family that we've won a lot of money on the lottery. We haven't cos we don't do it. Now, we are invited to dinner, holidays, parties, you name it, by relatives on both sides, some of who, most in fact, usually don't even send us a Christmas card. I'm tempted to take up some of the more attractive offers. Why shouldn't we?

unless you are a liar you might want to pick the best offer of all. Cause once you get there and people start asking you questions and you tell them you did NOT win- word will get around and there will be no more invites. So take the best offer and enjoy it. Also enjoy the looks on peoples faces when you tell them you have no idea what they are talking about. On the other hand they might not believe you. This could be very interesting. m

It think you should accept and at the dinner table tell them why they have suddenly invite you. Only when the subject of the lottery winning comes up tell them its no true. But take this great chance to see who is your true friend or just in it for the money - not only when you need help you know who you can count on, but also if you ever get the luck of receiving money you will know to whom you will never lend or give any of it, as they are just greedy phonies.

Why would you want to go hang with a bunch of people who are only interested in you because of what your bank balance might be? Do you want people to like you, or the green you supposedly have?
I have relatives who treated me and my parents both like absolute trash because we were poor. We were shunned and I heard it way to often how my parents weren't good enough...and this was when I was 5 and 6 and 7 years old. When I grew up, got married, bought a house, got two cars, two kids, etc. etc., suddenly I'm worth their time. My parents, meanwhile, still have some financial difficulty and are still treated like garbage. My relatives actually go as far as to call me when there's a family issue and won't bother calling my parents.
I refuse to play these games, though, and my relatives deserve to have their faces smacked by the door that gets slammed in their faces when they call me.

One way it is nice that you see the real face of the so called family. I would say enjoy as much as you can all the attentions and fun's. When you feel the time is there to tell them the truth, then just tell them clearly. But yes ! since that moment all the good offers will be gone. That is life........

Take up the offers. Scotch the rumours. Leave them with egg on their faces ... that way you discover who your friends are.
If you are honest, never mind about other's dishonesty or misinformation. That is their problem ... just smile and give them the truth.

You should tell people the truth and let them deal with it.
