Conditions are not great in Canada. For example, anyone who wants to make an honest living might be lucky just to have a job. Canada cannot support the large population that the United States can.

I agree that a lot of visible poverty exists in the United States, and only the "stonecutters" and thieves seem to get ahead. A lot of Mexicans work hard in the United States and seem to be basically honest people. Canada seems to be getting more and more like the United States in a lot of respects.

The weather in Canada would be hard to get used to in the winter for people accustomed to a warmer climate. However, it would be a small adjustment. Canada needs skilled labourers and has an acknowledged shortage of them. Good citizens probably are welcome in Canada.

I think Mexicans must find the United States to be closer and more similar in terms of climate and terrrain to what they are used to. It therefore seems like an easier and more logical step to move there instead of to Canada.

Although Canada has some Mexican immigrants - I have met some and found them to be great people - the majority of Canada's Hispanic population tends to come from Central America and South America. Many of them are refugees or descendants of refugees. A lot of them are angry about the involvement of the United States in South American and Central American affairs e.g. Chile and American support for Pinochet. They often seem to look on the United States and the CIA with suspicion. Many like to sing protest songs. You could ask the Mexicans, I guess.

They have to travel thru the US before they can immigrate to Canada.. which some do. But minimum wage is actually a lot more then they can make doing the same job in Mexico, and when you don't pay taxes it is even better yet.

Well they certainly would NOT have to learn french to move to Canada. Only one province is actually heavily populated with french speaking people. But how would they get there? They can just walk across the border into the US. Do you expect them to hitch-hike up to Canada? They aren't exactly smuggling experts, they hop fences. This question just don't make any sense.

I totally agree with you.....My brother in law, migrated to Toronto and he absolutely loves it.

It was much easier to go there, they are accepting immigration, because they have an aging population and need young workers. The standard of living is very good and so is quality of life. I think in time, there will be more awareness about Canada and more will choose to go there, instead of US.

If you sneak into Canada then give birth your kid is not a Canadian citizen like you automatically get in US, also it's farther to walk, I think those are the 2 main reasons.
