As far as your question goes, the terrorists perform suicide bomb attacks because there is no guarantee of heaven for them except as a shahid (martyr). Otherwise, after they die, their god weighs their good works vs. bad works to determine if they qualify. Therefore, martyrdom is the only sure fire way to get in.
To those who say it's about the oil, let me ask this. If it's about oil, and we've been there for so long, why is gas at $3.30 a gallon? It's because we're not getting much! Take a look at the link provided. It clearly shows that although part of the Iraq oil revenues fund part of the military effort, the Iraqis still control their own resources.
Here's the International Law concerning use of resources by occupying forces:
What does Resolution 1483 say about how Iraqi oil proceeds can be used?
It says that all oil proceeds will be deposited in a special account, the Development Fund for Iraq, to be administered by the authorities from the U.S.-led occupation government in consultation with the Iraqi interim administration. For now, the Iraqi interim administration consists of the 25-member Iraqi Governing Council. These proceeds are "to be used in a transparent manner" and limited to:
* humanitarian needs of the Iraqi people
* economic reconstruction and repair of Iraq's infrastructure
* continued disarmament of Iraq
* costs of Iraqi civilian administration
* "other purposes benefiting the people of Iraq."
So, let's stop drinking the Kool-Aid that the New York Times, Move-on.org, and so forth spew out, and think clearly for a while.

Terrorist kill themselves in bomb attacks because they believe whole heartedly in what they are doing. Just like the kamikaze pilots in WWll who were brainwashed into believing the highest honor they can achieve is giving up their life for their country, terrorist believe the highest honor they can achieve is giving up their life for their god or some of them for their country. Does that ring a bell?
Yes of course you are right when you say it's about oil That's no secret. It always has been about oil. If it were about the welfare of the people there are plenty of places in the world where people are suffering - but they aren't suffering on land that has oil underneath. Oil is a finite resource. Oil is needed to run machines. Whoever is the last one to have machines running wins.
That's pretty simple, isn't it?

no body knows the background of the terrorists! So its impossible to know why do they commit such horrible sins.
Terrorism is a crime against humanity. It is a brutal attack on innocent people. Islam is a religion that means "peace". In the Koran, the Holy Book of Islam, God commands believers to bring peace and security to the world. Terrorism and all other mischief on Earth are the very acts that Muslims are commanded by God to stand against. The Islamic morality is the cure for terrorism, not the source of it. Those who resort to or support terrorism in the name of Islam are in a great error. They are committing a crime which God has cursed in the Koran. All true Muslims denounce terrorism of any kind, and share the sorrows of its victims.

I think is a sort of genetic cleansing.
Let's face it, the story is about virgins and being glorified in the afterlife.
Also your family is suppose to be taken care of.
I do not see the leaders going out and proving themselves worthy.
Maybe they are just getting rid of the dumb ones.
That may be harsh but if they all went out and did it there wouldn't be too many left for their cause right?

America (Bush) wants control of the oil that belongs to Iraq. When a person kills themselves in an attempt to fight against America, they believe that they will die for their land and their cause.. Better to die for something, than stand for nothing. And no, I do not support terrisom. I wish Bush would have never started this war.

Holy martyrs are all too common in certain religions. Pope Urban II told knights of the First Crusade that anyone killed in it automatically went to Heaven. The Moslem Heaven is more lush than the silly Christian version. A Moslem martyr gets 72 houris as his sex slaves. Christianity cannot match that. "Martyr" is one more synonym for "gullible fool" in reality, of course.

The bombers believe that any nation not ruled by the Islamic Imams is to be destroyed. They also believe that sacrificing themselves earns them 72 virgins in heaven.

they kill themselves because they think they are doing Allah a service and it will result in them having an eternity of sensual pleasure in paradise.
the Koran teaches that if a muslim dies in battle for Allah against the infidels he is bringing the world into total submission to Allah. So Allah rewards them for their sacrifice with gluttony and sex
