But people will use what every they can to get or do what they want.

Religion was very strong back in the eleven and twelve hundreds. Every aspect of life was governed by religion.
The Crusaders were not the organized armies of the countries that partisipated in the crusades.
The kings who led some of the crusades were trying to extend their holdings. The noblemen who volunteered hoped to carve out kingdoms for themselves.
The common soldiers hoped to return with loads of booty that would make them rich.
There was much talk about taking back the holly lands, but that was to make the whole thing seem like a noble operation, actually, the whole purpose was greed.
With the lack of organization, fights between the leaders, the poor soldiers scraped up from the gutters, lack of good equipment, and dozens of other reasons, it's almost a miracle that they did as well as history claims.

The ignored that commandment and if they were under god's direction then it proves what has been said so often, the god that christians worship is a violent and cruel god. BTW Catholics ARE christians.
It is yet unknown what their god would do if it exists.
Of course, religion is "just another way to control"!
It is also a "safety blanket for those that are so insecure that they fear biological processes. They must feel more powerful and more in control to be happy. It really is sickening and scary!!

Don't blame the crusades on Christ. Blame it on the Muslims and the Catholic church. If you do that-then you will have it right. Remember Mohammad took the holy land by force, and killed thousands of innocent people for no other reason that his satanic greed. The pope sent people against the Muslims in the crusades. The popes was the political leader of the western world. Christianity did not have anything to do with it. The Muslims stole the popes land and power-he tried to take it back.

The catholic church started the crusades for land and money, but they openly used it for religious purposes to help people support them. After all the pope had more power than the king then and the pope is supposed to be without mistakes on religious matters so if youve learned this all your life and have been brainwashed, what would you think.

Well, religion, especially Christianity, is supposed to be something to believe in. Unfortunately, people come along and mess everything up.
I'm sorry that the Crusades happened.
P.S. Catholicism is one form of Christianity.

more suitable or a lot less the very similar because the remedy of prisoners in the different wars of the time. there replaced into no Geneva convention then, and no presumption that prisoners' lives should be spared. in case you took prisoner everyone you truly disliked, it replaced into completely okay to kill him and positioned his head on a spike; certainly it replaced into anticipated that you'll. otherwise, you kept richer and better-score prisoners in the experience that they were an invaluable political bargaining counter, or for ransom if their households ought to pay a tidy sum. yet as for the rank and record: - in case you belonged to a slave-possessing society you purely marched them off to marketplace and pocketed their sale value. - Or, in case you've been short of squaddies, and theory you need to apply them and they could be strong, you purely suggested 'excellent, you're in my military now' - yet when neither of the above utilized, they weren't properly worth conserving, and they were mechanically slaughtered en masse. Harsh yet - lower back interior the day - effortless by skill of all and distinctive as widespread.

That commandment is :"Thou shalt do no murder"
It's the old ethics question: Would you defend yourself and your family if it means killing your attacker?
I wonder if the war by the U.S. -lead forces in the middle-east is a parallel?

Throughout its existence the church has at times been misguided and at times used for political purposes. Many things have been done in the name of Christianity that were not Christian in nature and they were each and every one wrong.
