I'd like to apologize to you for some of the insensitive responses made by some of the previous members. Please pay them no mind. Just so you know, I know for a fact that it is possible to detox completely from meth. The best way to do it is gradually.

Methadone is a synthetic drug therefore it takes longer to get out of your system. But please remember, it can be done.

P.S. Look up the website "Methadone Awareness" for more information!

Methadone is more physically addictive then the opiates it was designed to replace. Adding to this, Methadone is legal and often free to an addict who gets on the program, and provides an effect that last much longer then opiates. The program keeps bumping the addict up in dosage, so he keeps getting the high he craves, without ever trying to ween them off. I have seen this with my own eyes. It is a poison that has caught a good friend of mine up in a cycle that he has admitted he will never get away from.

This is not the scientific answer you are looking for, but methadone is addictive. It was invented to get people off of heroin, but guess what. Heroin was invented to get people off of morphine.

anytime you have chronic chemical dependency, it takes a lot of work to get free of it. Good diet, rest, and exercise can help, plus staying busy...
