lol...there is no way kids are not going to continue to do the job they have been sent to do - drive their parents crazy! Somehow, they learn this job dutifully and perform it willingly without remorse, or recourse. lol. I think it's just the fact of kids being kids. As parents, we have to remember that we did the same thing to our parents- possibly not in the same degrees because of our generations, but we did. When I was growing up we didn't talk back to our parents - (but we mumured under our breath and talked about them to each other!) We did our homework and chores and made good grades and smiled and went to church and respected our teachers (but we still managed to play jokes on them, lie to them, get away with stuff they didn't know about) -it was just done on a different level. What kids and parents don't seem to realize now is they have a greater benefit of being able to communicate openly and honestly. The kids going off about money and the pool and friends? That is nothing. Parents just need to spend more time talking with and to their children and establishing some ground rules. When they get to the ages of 9 and 12 - if those converstations have never been established - that's the reason the parents are feeling bombarded. I'm not bragging, but my daughter is now 20 and even though I was an older mom, I believed in establishing rules and she learned them at a young age. She just didn't defy me. When I said something - it was law. She didn't have the benefit of running back and forth to friends spending the night - I established that rule at a young age. Those nights were very, very restricted. She received an allowance and got money for gifts and that was it -she didn't bug me about money. She knew what we had to pay for and she grew up understanding that money didn't grow on trees. She learned to appreciate the 'extra'. Pools? What pools? Parents have to establish their children at a young age and help them learn the boundaries. That's it. Kids don't have to drive parents nuts unless parents let them. Finally, the parents who's kids are driving them nuts are the same kids that are driving their teachers nuts too. lol

Well have you ever heard the phrase: "Insanity is inherited from your children." It is something that every parent has deal with. They are just kids.

just testing their limits. If you are inconsistent then they're just waiting for you to provide the answer they want. Don't just say yes or no but really explain why.
