if this is true then isn't it unfair that the native aboriginal australians who had no idea of christianity because of their geographic location were damned to hell through no fault of their own?

Age old question. And no I do not believe that Christians are going to be the only ones going to heaven. I think it has to do with what kind of person you are and what kind of life you have lived. I don't expect to see Charles Manson or John Wayne Gasey or Hitler there lol. I do however expect to see Eskimos, Buddists, people from tribes all over the world, Jews, Native Americans, Hindus, and all kinds of folk, from every nation and religion. Does anyone with half a brain really believe that only Christians go to heaven? Boy, big shock in store for them lol.

Romans 1:19-21, those who never heared about Jesus can look around and know all things were created by Him. So because of His creation, we have no escuse of not believing in God. Even if they havent heard of Him. Hard to accept but either you do or you dont. The catholic doctrine teach that we cant be punished for what we dont know, but its not biblical. Its a kind of " I hope" mind set. I know you know the verse, Jhn 14:6"I am the Way the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father but by Me". No exceptions were left in the verse or the chapter. No where do you find that people will go to heaven if they have never heard of Christ. As unfair as it may seem to you and me, this is why its our responsibility to spread the Gospel to everyone, or be obedient to the call of missionary work.

I'm Christian and I don't believe in hell as you understand it here. I believe that Jesus died for the whole world. Some just don't know it yet. Like the Aboriginal Australians. I believe in an open Heaven. "God has opened Paradise".
Peace.

True that life is unfair. Nothing's fair. According to our little worldy minds, God IS unfair, but God judges fairly and accordingly. If it is God's will to lead His people to reach out the unreachable, then He will. If not, well, it's God's will.

Many believed in God. Even Satan believed in God but why is he condemned to hell? Because Satan didn't love nor trust God. He rebelled against God. He didn't put his faith in God but in his desires to be like God himself.

Then how can we escape hell? To enter the Kingdom of God (heaven) you must first be 'born again' (John 3) as what Jesus told us when He was still here on earth. And "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." (Eph 2:8-9)

>Accept Jesus in your heart. Let Him be in complete control of you.

>Believe that He died on the cross, shed His blood, lived again, and ascended to heaven to "prepare a place" for you until He comes back. (John 14:1-4)

>Confess all your sins to Him. (Romans 10:9-10)

>Don't wait until you die because none of us knows when we die. And when we die it's either we go to heaven or hell and Judgment Day would prevail what we did when we were still alive. All of us will only die ONCE. (Hebrews 9:27)

My friend heaven and hell are here on this very realm. Let me tell you a story. There was once a very holy saint who was meditating and praying in the forest. One day, the ruler of that province a great warrior passed by and when he saw the saint, stopped by to pay his respects. This ruler had a question of what is hell and heaven.

All of sudden the saint uttered a few words and on hearing this the warrior drew his sword from his sheath to attack the holy one. The holy one immediately said "Stop, This is hell"; on hearing the words uttered by the saint the warrior became calm and put back his sword to which the saint uttered "This is heaven".

There is no place as heaven or hell seperately.

Christians believe that those who reject evidence for God go to hell.

God is a perfect judge, and if people exist who were never told about Jesus he will judge them accordingly

In addition, people dont deserve to go to heaven...If someone was standing in a plaza handing out money for free but you didnt get some, is that truly unfair? It is out of grace that God lets us into heaven, even though absolutely no human deserves it

We also believe that everyone has an inborn knowledge of God, a knowledge of good and evil, and right from wrong. That is called the concience, that aspect of our being through which God makes Himself known to all.

When that knowledge is defied, then God is defied.

So no, it isn't unfair that those who have never physically HEARD the Word are judged, everyone has heard the word of God in his or her heart.

No, this isn't true. The Bible says ""You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble!" James 2:19

so obviosly it isn't just "belief in god" that's important.

The bible also says..

"...he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."
Hebrews 11:6

Even before Judaism and Christianity, there were people who believed there was a creator and judge of mankind, who would reveal Himself to those who sought him.
