If you mean here in the U.S., I think it's illegal for them to make a beer that tastes good.

I don't think they water it down. That would mean they would add water after the "finished product." They use the water to dilute the alcohol content to about 1/3 of that found in German beer. Also the aluminum that's used in the process (and in cans) disolves into the beer and helps give the beer a watery taste.

certain states also regulate the alcohol content of beers. For example Utah, Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma have their beer limited to 3.2% alcohol where most of the others are 5%. I don't drink beer.. but people I know says it really does taste watered down in Utah.

Well, that depends on where you are. Domestic to you is import to someone in another country, isn't it?
If you're talking about American beer, yes, it does taste watery, and yes, it is a lower alcohol content than Canadian and European beers.

Try a microbrew. You can get some that are higher in alcohol content than some wines, and they taste better than Bud, Miller or any of that watered-down, mass-produced crap!

Micro-brews and some imports have more hops and malt.Malt and hops increase Body. All the big name American breweries use more corn or rice in their beers and less malt and hops. This decreases body.(it's also cheaper to make that way).So it's not really watered down, just different blends of ingredients.
