Oh my heck! once when I was about 21, again around 26 and another just a couple months ago at 44! The thing is as your life progresses things will happen, situations will arise and you will act or react, then it happens the thought "oh my heck, Mom (or Dad) was right!" Your parents are pulling information from their lifetime of experiences just the same as you are and will your entire life. There are unfortunately some things that no matter who you are if you say or do certain things the result will be the same for everyone at some point, some people see results immediately some it takes time, but it will happen... "If you drink, eventually you will get drunk" "If you get up every day and try to be a better person than you were yesterday your life will be better every day!"

I was about 22-23. I was living on my own in a apartment I couldn't afford. I tell my Mom all time how she was right about so many things and I apologize to her for being soooo Mean when I was teenager. I can't even imagine treating her the way did then, now.

I don't remember and believe it might be safe to say never. I had to grow up fast and everything I've learned I've pretty much learned on my own and through life lessons. She always tries to say things like "I tried to tell you" but the reality is, my mom doesn't even know. She's a teenager trapped in a 47 yr olds body and I can't stand being around her

When my best friend had an abortion and my mother - although very religious (my father's a reverend) - was very kind to her and did not judge my friend only because she had aborted.
That was one point when I started to see that she didn't want to be "moralic" but realistic.
And - as for my father - I've never thought that he didn't know what he was talking about. He was an authority for me and I had a lot of respect for him - because he always knew what he was talking about, not like some other reverends.

Probably not until I had kids of my own. Now I'm waiting for my 14 year old son to realize HE doesn't know everything, and that I'm not as stupid as he thinks!

I think I did when I was about 18 and in college. The things they started to talk about started to actually seem logical to me, and not like they were out to get me!

Gradually over the years. It never hit me all at once, it just dawned on me slowly that I wouldn't have been in half the messes I have been in if I had only listened to them!!
