ive used antacids more than 2 1/2 years expired and they still worked fine for me...so by my own experience i would say definitely yes...as long as its been stored properly

Depends on the exact type. If it's something that fizzes when you dissolve it in water, like Alka-Seltzer, probably not -- the mix of chemicals reacts very slowly even in the air, and becomes pretty useless after a while. If it's just a tablet that you chew, it's good for quite a while (3-4 yerars) after the official expiration date.
Just remember the _official_ expiration date ia a c.y.a. gimmick by the manufacturers. That's the date when the stuff may __start_ to go bad if it's kept in the wrong way -- in a very hot room, or in high humidity -- and not an absolute die-if-you-take-it date after which you may be poisoning yourself.

Safe yes, just probarbly wont be effective as some of the alkalai would have been neutralised by natural pH in the air.

yes it is. they are not going to kill you. they are just not going to work as effectively. either way, i think you should buy a new bottle. the old tablets arent going to help much. hope this helps!!!
