If your dog has diarrhea and other symptoms show up like vomiting, get in touch immediately with your veterinarian. Diarrhea and vomiting can indicate that the dog has a disorder or disease like food poisoning, infectious enteritis or others (which your veterinarian will let you in on). When dog has difficulty defecating its normal to sometimes see a little blood in its feces, but if the color of the blood is very dark it might mean that the dog has a lesion in its intestines; these are sometimes caused by ulcers or tumors. In these cases its very important the dog gets taken to the veterinarian. Other symptoms like fatigue or diarrhea that has gone away and then shows up again after a few days must be told to the veterinarian as well.If the dog has a very bad case of diarrhea, you must replace the water, salt and glucose the dog has lost. Don't by any means feed the dog during the next twelve hours and you will need to give the dog saline to replace the water it has lost, this can be given to the dog by using a syringe or through an iv drip. There are also some powdery substances that your veterinarian can prescribe that just need to be mixed with fresh water that you can feed your dog by using a syringe. It's also possible that your veterinarian will prescribe antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medicines etc. Chronic diarrhea however, is something that is a lot more difficult to diagnose and treat. In these cases a feces analysis is necessary as well as x rays. It's also possible that the veterinarian will want to check the intestinal walls of the dog and take samples of this. In some cases it will be necessary for the dog to stay in the veterinary clinic for a few days so that the veterinarian can do some tests and give the dog the necessary treatment.

My first response is call the vet. Diarrhea can be symptom of something serious or simply an upset tummy, and the vet will know what questions to ask to help you determine what you need to do. Make sure there is plenty of water to drink, because diarrhea is very dehydrating & in the summer weather, even more so. The next time the dog goes, watch. I know it sounds gross but the vet will ask you what it looks like and may ask for a sample. That will determine if there are worms or a parasite. If the dog is lethargic &/or disoriented, I'd head straight to the emergency clinic.

Well, it depends on what is causing the diarrhea. Did your dog get into the trash, eat a new brand of food, get any table food, any dog toys missing, etc. You can TEMPORARILY give a dog Immodium AD. You can safely give 1 tablet (2mg) per 25kg of body weight. Take the weight of your dog in lbs and divide it by 2.2 to get his/her weight in kg. DO NOT give it to a dog less than 10kg. example: If the dog is 30lbs, divide 30 by 2.2 which is 13.6kg. Give only 1/3 to 1/2 of a tab for this size dog. If the diarrhea continues, DISCONTINUE use and see a vet.

The dog probably has worms. The vet can give meds & ONLY the vet.Is the dog acting ok otherwise? The meds are cheap so please take that dog to the doctor.Act fast. Not to sound rude but if one cannot take their pet to the vet,,they shouldnt have a pet.The vet must be seen to determine what kind of worm or if it is caused by something else such as a virus.Do not give your dog any over the counter drugs.

Don't know how severe the diarrhea is, but could be diet or a worm in the intestinal tract. Contact your vet. asap! They will probably ask for a stool sample to test for a worm that can cause loose stool. My dog had it and they just gave him a med. with a syringe into the mouth.

It may be his diet. Don't feed him any people food (other than below). Buy Hill's Canine I/D from a vet and put a spoonful of plain yogurt in his bowl a few times a week. Add rice to his diet occasionally. My dog had colitis but is completely fine now after switching to this diet. It takes about two months.

There is a pill that the vet can prescribe for diarrhea. Don't wait....you would't want the dog to dehydrate. Then you'll have more problems. CALL TODAY!!

The vet can give you a medication that will help. A lot of things could be going on. Changing his diet might be the problem too.

Get the pepto bismal tablets and give them to your dog. I use that when my dogs are having problems like that and it works and doesn't make them sick.
