My question is - everyone is so sure (in religion) that the earth and everything was created by GOD 6000yrs ago! But who was there to record this event? Surely the author of the Book of Genesis and you, would want proof and not just hear-say that this so called self proclaimed GOD of everything actually did this.

And please don't quote scripture "that is plagiarism!"

In my opinion no one WAS there, so no evidence except a STORY! but there is plenty of evidence to support evolution!! And common sense dictates too!!

Evidence to support evolution, maybe, Indellible evidence to support evolution?.......no i didnt think so.
Oh yes one more point, if quoting Bible passages is plagiarism(which it is not, if you state where it came from lol) Using "evidence" OTHERS have discovered to -as you say support evolution- would be just as unacceptable would it not???

NOTE FROM"THICKO":
This is what the dictionary says plagiarism means:
plagiarism

n 1: a piece of writing that has been copied from someone else and is presented as being your own work 2: the act of plagiarizing; taking someone's words or ideas as if they were your own [syn: plagiarization, plagiarisation, piracy]

so you see my learned friend, to quote the Bible and state it is from the Bible could in no way be deemed as plagiarism, could it???????

science does nor exclude religion, evolution is REAL, and the story of the Bible is REAL too, it;s just a metaphor!!!!!!!! The story in the Bible says that the first man and woman was Adam and Eve created by God, but this doesn't mean that there was no evolution! Of course nothing happened like in the story in the Bible, you can believe everything science says, because the two things does not exclude each other, it's just when the Bible was written people needed to be shown the greatness of God, His unlimited powers. The Bible is a myth, which explains the life of the universe, and the destiny of human kind, we don't have to take it word by word, we just have to get the main idea! Take Jesus for example, He always explained Himself with stories, and examples, and every story related to Him is an exemplification of certain qualities or faults. It doesn't mean that Jesus is fiction or God is fiction, but the writers imagination must be taken in consideration, when we read this book, we must actualise the events in order to understand their meaning properly!

Gee you know I once had PROOF that something was real, untiI found out the data had been falsified.

Actually the earth is "created" new every day, and we are all given injected memories, making us believe this is the next day, and it is all a big testing ground for an alien culture to determine if their robots (us) are good enough to sell in their walmart.

None of us were anywhere billions of years ago, and I agree FIRMLY that science does NOT invalidate God, and religion does not invalidate Science - "NO VS" Just ALL a part of the whole.

The book of Genesis was written by Moses - and was revealed to him by God.
The same argument can be made against evolution, right? There is no one who saw these purported evolving animals, and one that finally gained the ability to reason and a heart and spirit apart from others. The evidence is incomplete.
I can tell you what I believe. I see amazing works around me and in my life every day. Look at how our bodies work, the beauty of the earth and the heavens, that we are just the right distance from the sun to not freeze or burn up, that we have a protective layer around us ( only 20 miles thick ) that sustains life, that rain waters plants and nourishes life. That we have have food supplied all around us. Do you know it has been calculated that the chances of these things happening on their own is over 1,000,000,000 to one? You wouldn't dream of taking a bet like that.
A designer, God, created all these wonderous things - and we enjoy them. I have no problem believeing in a Creator because there is so much evidence. We can't think just in our terms and what man can do, or what he would do, but a higher, amazing God who is greater than we can grasp and gives us evidence of himself.
As to Macro-evolution - Where did the original matter come from? The building blocks of life? To say that they were just there is not a satisfactory answer.
Give God his due!
If he wants to reveal it to Moses to begin scripture, than that is ok and how he did it. It doesn't have to be torn apart or assumed false.
If he is Creator and unlimited in who he is, yes, he can create all these things. I personally do not believe in the 6,000 year scenario, because there is evidence otherwise, but I do not think it lessens God at all to say that the earth is much older. The Bible also says that to God a day is like a thousand years. So it does not have to be a literal day. It is what God would call a day and that is ok with me.

Good Question - God Bless.

You are entitled to your opinion as I am too. Why are you here against and questioning religion and other peoples faith? What do you hope to prove, that you have all the answers? You know Christians at least have a creed and a need in them to be of help to others as well want to bring others in at their own pace as a fellow believer, but what do you atheists get out of it? Is this your idea of a sick joke or a war and showcase to try to prove your point. If you do not believe fine, then get on with your lives, you have nothing to gain or prove here, or is it you need to prove your point and try to sway peoples thoughts, you are no different than the preachers here, you know the ones you constantly condemn. Most of you can not re-frame from swearing, so what's the point, you don't believe it, so get on with your bad self. I am not here to attack someone. Look at all your leading statements, you use a question to make a statement and to see what you can stir up OK, we get it you don't believe in God, so what do you offer the world except your opinions that most people don't care to hear?

adam wa acctually there, he talked with his great grandson enoch, who wrote it all down for his children and grand children to read. the bible often refers to the book of enoch, though it has not been found as of yet.
moses, the writer of genesis, would have definitely had a copy of the book of enoch.
that's no game of telephone, that's straight from the horses mouth.

nobody was around to witness evolution either, and no evidence has been found yet that proves without a shadow of doubt that it is factual (all "evidence" is missing, proven to be fraudulent, or otherwise made-up; yet plenty of evidence that would contradict that idea is suppressed so as not to show it for what it is: "absurdity in the highest degree"- dr. francis crick- leading biology authority and co-discoverer of DNA)

by the way, quoting something is not plagiarism, saying it and trying to take the credit for having said it is; which is why the quote is accredited.

I believe that God created upon this earth PRIOR TO Genesis 1:1-31, 2:1-3.

I believe God destroyed all prior creation (Gen.1:2) to bring forth man created in God's likeness (Gen.1:26), with an UNBROKEN lineage beginning with Adam.

No one was there, but there is plenty of evidence that shows a much, much older Earth. There is no feasible way that the earth is even remotely close to 6,000 years old. Only the fundamentalists believe this kind of stuff still. Most religious people are smart enough to realize this.

Religion agrees with science-you need to look carefully and use your imagination. God created the world in 7 days-how do you not know these "days" represented billions of years? Religion is part of experience, if you don't try and become part of a religion you will never believe in it. To believe in a religion you need that extra bit of faith AND courage. There was once a man who wanted to prove that Jesus did not excist or performed miracles. He did this for many years until he himself was converted.
