"Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a violent hailstorm. A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth. Then another sign appeared in the sky; it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadems. Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky and hurled them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth. She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and his throne." -The Holy Bible (Revelation 11:19, Revelation 12:1-5)

The earthly sanctuary system of the Old Testament was a pattern of the heavenly sanctuary, that God told Moses to make. In the earthly temple, there were two divisions: the Holy Place (with the altar of burnt incense, the table of shew bread, and the golden candlestick), while the other division was the Most Holy Place (which contained only one item, the ark of the covenant).
It was a wooden box, overlaid with gold. On the cover, there were two golden images of angels, and in between them, was what was called the mercy seat, above which was the shekinah glory signifying the literal presence of God. Inside this box was the Ten Commandments.

It would appear that the Ten Commandments are still binding on all, and that Jesus (the Child) suffered to uphold it. How sad to think that the churches are saying that it was done away with.

The Ark of the Covenant is the "mercy seat"--the Earthy throne of God, the Divine Presence that can be view by mortals.

It is lost now--no longer needed, since religiously reaching God no longer is dependent on visiting the Temple physically.

No one knows what became of it, for its "room" in the Temple is reputed to have been empty when the Roman soldiers finally made their way into there. But it is a certainty that the two rumored places--Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland and some cave in today's "Israel"--where myth has placed it are incorrect for the very reason that they are mentioned as being the depository.

As far as the passage you quote from Revelations? The temple there depends for its location upon the first part of that sentence which clears states that the Temple of God is in heaven--and not in today's "Israel".

The so-called mercy seat of merciless Law Law Moses Moses was not merciful to all, not even to Moses himself; Which is perhaps why it is said only hypocrites, fools, vipers, and blind guides sat in Moses' seat (Mt 23): Law Law (Mt 22), where the second "law" is like the first "law": sin and death to all.

And also perhaps why God said he'd comune with us "above" the mercy seatward of Law Law Moses Moses, or above such Law Law where there is only Grace, and only mercy at the throne of grace, and thereby only peace of such grace mercy peace thru J->C.
